Position Overview The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role, reporting to the CFO. This position is responsible for providing strong financial leadership across the organization, ensuring the integrity of financial operations, and driving continuous improvement in processes, controls, and decision support. The Director will lead a core finance team and is expected to bring a hands-on, outcomes-focused leadership style, with the ability to assess current-state performance, identify gaps, and implement changes that strengthen the function. This role requires sound judgment, confidence in decision making, and the ability to influence across the business while holding teams accountable to high standards. Key Responsibilities * Lead all core finance operations, including financial reporting, accounting, internal controls, and compliance for Pizza Pizza Limited (PPL) and Pizza Pizza Royalty Corp (PPRC). * Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and related regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with applicable accounting standards. * Maintain and strengthen financial controls, policies, and governance practices to ensure integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency. * Direct financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and long-range planning. * Evaluate existing finance processes, systems, and structures, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, mitigate risk, and enhance scalability. * Lead the design and implementation of improved financial processes, tools, and reporting frameworks, enabling greater efficiency and real-time insight. * Develop, refine, and manage financial KPIs, dashboards, and internal reporting that support performance visibility and accountability. * Partner with business leaders to interpret financial results, identify trends, assess risks, and drive corrective actions where necessary. * Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and liquidity planning, ensuring the business remains financially strong and agile. * Support relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and external partners, ensuring effective coordination and compliance. * Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team, setting clear expectations, providing ongoing coaching, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. * Assess team capabilities and organizational structure to ensure the finance function is optimally resourced and aligned with current and future business needs. * Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. * Support internal and external audits and prepare financial materials for senior leadership and stakeholders. Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor’s degree with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CPA-CA, or CPA-CGA). * Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in finance, including leadership responsibility. * Experience in financial reporting and leading an audit. * Experience in a multi-unit, complex, or consumer-facing business environment preferred. * Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. * Proven ability to lead change, improve processes, and implement higher standards of financial discipline. * Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge, and partner effectively with senior leaders. * Highly analytical, pragmatic, and comfortable making difficult decisions when required.
