Job Description Summary The Director of Finance is the Senior financial leader within our luxury hotel, responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and effectiveness of all financial operations. As a member of the Executive Committee, this role supports hotel leadership in driving profitability, operational excellence, signature guest service, and employee engagement through strong financial and leadership stewardship. Job Description Key Responsibilities The Director of Finance is responsible for managing all hotel accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, credit, cash management, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning to support informed decision‑making across the property, while maximizing hotel cash flow through effective oversight of collections, inventory controls, deposits, and disbursements. The Director partners with department leaders to provide strategic financial guidance that enhances operational efficiency and guest satisfaction, and participates in sales and rate strategy meetings to ensure pricing aligns with market trends and performance goals. The role requires the overseeing and development of strong internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with Federal, Provincial, and brand standards, ensuring timely account reconciliation and accurate payment processing. The Director leads, mentors, and develops the Accounting team, fostering a positive, guest‑focused culture and supporting Hotel employee engagement plans. Additional responsibilities include strong working knowledge of Ontario payroll rules and regulations. Overseeing payroll accuracy in partnership with ADP, serving as Manager‑on‑Duty when required, and supporting leases, tax filings, government reporting, asset management, and forecasting, while ensuring accurate payroll and employment records in compliance with ESA requirements. Participate in Union negotiations providing financial analysis, cost modeling, and budget impact assessments to support strategic decision-making and ensure fiscally responsible contract agreements. Skills & Competencies • Financial leadership: budgeting, ROI, forecasting, variance analysis. • Hotel accounting expertise: AP/AR, credit, payroll, cash controls, internal audit. • Operational collaboration: partner with Rooms, F&B, Sales, and Operations teams. • Strong regulatory knowledge: ESA, OHSA, WHMIS, payroll standards, government record keeping and reporting requirements. • Analytical & communication skills: strong math, reporting, written and verbal communication. Strong Leadership and interpersonal skills. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Previous Hotel experience • 4–8 years of hotel accounting/audit experience, including leadership. • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
