SUMMARY
The Director of Finance is a key member of the YWCA Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for the overall financial health, accountability, and sustainability of YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin. This role oversees financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance to ensure the organization meets all provincial, federal, and charitable regulatory requirements.
The Director provides strategic leadership on financial policies and practices, supervises finance and IT staff, and ensures accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, funders, and stakeholders. The Director of Finance also plays an active role in risk management, audits, benefits administration, and operational planning.
REQUIREMENTS
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA designation an asset).
· Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
· Strong knowledge of charitable sector regulations, reporting requirements, and funder accountability.
· Demonstrated experience managing multiple budgets, programs, and funding streams.
· Proficiency with Sage 50, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel skills.
· Knowledge of Digibot and IT systems oversight an asset.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively across teams.
