Summary: The Director of FIU is responsible for directing and executing the enterprise -wide financial crime detection, identification, investigation, and prevention program which include s Anti-Money Laundering/ Combatting the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and OFAC/ Sanction s , the F raud R isk M anagement P rogram , and Corporate Investigations .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with AML/CFT /Fraud software in a multi- billion dollar financial ins titution is required . Verafin experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of managerial or supervisory exper ience within AML/CFT an d/or Fraud is required .
  • CAMS or Fraud Examiner Certificate preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field is required .

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines .
  • Enhanced knowledge of AML/CFT and OFAC/S anctions regulations with ability to apply in a practical setting .
  • Extensive knowledge of all types of b ank fraud .
  • Participation in local law enforcement /financial institution task forces .
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact positively with a wide variety of individuals .

Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership in coordinating investigative efforts within the FIU , including AML/CFT and Fraud, and other relevant business units, law enforcement agencies , and other institutions.
  • Leads the FIU by effectively managing the unit in making process improvement recommendations; provides daily interaction, mentoring, and coaching; identifies training opportunities to ensure department staff has requisite skills and resources to function at a high level .
  • Oversees the enterprise wide AML/CFT and OFAC/Sanctions programs; ensures programs are consistent with current regulations and industry best practices.
  • Oversees an effective Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced D ue Diligence program and that a c ustomer r isk r ating m ethodology is adhered to ; continuously assess for improvements.
  • Oversees the alert review and case investigation process within the FIU to ensure consistent decision making and complete and detailed documentation.
  • Verifies that a nnual updates to the AML/CFT and OFAC/S anctions Programs, policies, and procedures are done to ensure they are accurate and reflective of the current regulatory environment; confirms the AML/CFT / OFAC/S anctions Risk Assessment is updated annually, or sooner if needed, considering products, services, customers, and geographies.
  • Ensures timely , accurate , and compliant filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and 314(a) and 314(b) reporting.
  • S erves as support to the AML/CFT Officer for all regulatory exams, internal and external audits.
  • Supervise s the BSA/AML Systems Manager who ensure s appropriate parameters are in place within the Bank’s anti-money laundering and fraud detection software to identify suspicious activity and transactions that would violate OFAC/S anctions .
  • Collaborate with the Fraud Manager and business units to establish and maintain processes to prevent fraud an d mitigate potentially fraudulent activities.
  • Implements, manages, and execut es t he F raud R isk M anagement P rogram, ensures that fraud related alerts and incidents and claims of unauthorized transactions are appropriately staffed, researched, and addressed ; and that fraud related p rograms and procedures remain current and consistent with regulations and where appropriate , with industry best practices .
  • Assists with internal investigations, partnering with the Human Resource Department as well as external parties .
