Reports to Sr. Director of Operations Responsible for carrying out the vision, strategy and standards for Food Service Accountable for leading, managing and communicating with the Food Service Team Monitors and evaluates all daily divisional activities to ensure the successful day-to-day management of all food service venues, catering, and related operations Oversees Food Service category reset activity, and implements Food Service concepts, designs, equipment and programs for remodels and new stores Responsible for central production operations including staffing, processes and guidelines, transportation, and operational efficiencies Accountable for fiscal budget, KPI’s, yield management, inventory, operations of assigned departments and marketing strategies to produce both short-term and long-term profitability Develops business plans that support company initiatives and enhance quality and service, associated costs, employee development, retention strategies and employee productivity benchmarks. Continuously evaluates department operations and performance to identify strategies to increase revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction Oversees the development of all Food Service advertising and promotional activities in partnership with Marketing and the selection for Big Board, Market Buys and Biweekly Buys Oversees the Merchandising Portal to guide merchandising, pricing and signage for Food Service departments Determines authorized vendors and processes to ensure accurate costing and retail pricing Develops and maintains strong working relationships with the producer, vendor and distributor communities, and internally with Culinary Services, Market Directors, Specialists, Market Managers and employees Responsible for new and promotional item selection and category management in alignment with forecast and financial contributions within the Food Service departments; works in conjunction with other Product Directors to ensure product alignment and proper launch of new items Performs regular category and set reviews with Food Service Specialists/Category Managers to develop SKU rationalization practices and performance metrics on product mix decisions Identifies and implements new trends for operations, assists in the development of menus, and provides sound decision making in handling difficult business situations. Advises on department-related issues, such as the planning of special promotions and events, and provides the necessary expertise to ensure the successful implementation of plans Provides direction for determining suppliers and sourcing criteria for all Food Service departments Works with Food Service Specialists and Category Managers to conduct regular cross-store meetings and conference calls Maintains occupational knowledge and skills pertaining to an extensive variety of food items and alcoholic beverages by conducting research and attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences Ensures effective structures, processes, positions, and performance management systems are in place for deli, bakery, commissary, beverage service areas, and catering operations Ensures proper health and safety measures and food quality assurance standards are in place and are in alignment to the Health Standards and Commitments document Works with the Director of Food Safety to ensure the dissemination & adherence of proper food handling and safety procedures and policies Acts as liaison to the depot Partners with People Support Services to attract, develop, and retain talented and well-suited people in a timely manner to support the strategic priorities of the company; to drive results through staff development and appropriate training programs, and to monitor results through evaluation, inspection, and analysis Creates succession plans for team members into leadership roles, develops a high-performing Food Service Team, and supports employee engagement by delegating job assignments to direct reports and providing clear expectations and constructive feedback Ensures the dissemination of and adherence to all company and department policies Supports the Company’s commitment to the Environmental Stewardship Stands and Commitments document including proper waste management and recycling procedures Provides and role models attitude of service to staff and guests Operates within the Company’s Core Values, Company Brand, and Business Principles THIS JOB MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF . . . Proven experience in implementing food service and menu programs including training staff in the new programs Proven experience in managing and operating major food service departments Proven experience in food service area design A broad experience and knowledge of global cuisines Ability to model collaboration, consensus building and a culture of discipline in a multi-unit business format Ability to prepare corporate reports, budgets, forecasts, P&L’s, Excellent facilitation skills for planning and conducting effective staff meetings Commitment to personal and professional development as well as staff development at all levels of Food Service Emphasis on selling and merchandising creatively Willingness to take calculated risks to maximize sales Strong knowledge of import/export processes and regulatory considerations Must possess an attitude of service to others Must possess strong communication skills including listening, speaking, reading, and writing Must possess intermediate or higher computer skills including MS Office Suite Ability to work independently, as well as with a diverse group of guests, employees, vendors, and leadership Demonstrates self-discipline and accountability Must possess a strong desire to work hard, be enthusiastic, participate in achieving management goals, and lead by example Visionary leader and team player with good follow-through and people skills Excellent customer services skills Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed Requires regular travel to all company locations throughout Snohomish, King, and Kitsap counties Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
