Summary of Position The Director of Football at St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School serves as the visionary leader of our football program, providing dynamic, faith-driven direction to student-athletes, coaches, and support staff. This vibrant role is responsible for advancing a culture of excellence, working closely with the Athletic Director to elevate and expand our football program to new heights. Key responsibilities include designing and overseeing all aspects of training, conditioning, and on-field performance. The Director leads a talented staff of assistant coaches, each entrusted with developing specific areas of the team. Mastery of and adherence to TAPPS rules, along with a commitment to best practices, are essential in this professional leadership role. This role is for immediate hire in spring 2026. Character Requirements The Director of Football is expected to embody and champion the school’s mission of integrity, courage, and excellence—serving as a role model for our athletes and the entire school community. Key Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Instills a culture of high character, discipline, faith, and an exceptional work ethic in all student-athletes. Fosters lasting relationships with parents, teachers, staff, coaches, and students that extend well beyond the football field. Responsible for the scheduling of all games, practices, and football events, including but not limited to referees, umpires, and other officials. Champions an active program that exemplifies sportsmanship and warmly welcomes competing teams and guests. Crafts and communicates a compelling program philosophy, leading preseason meetings with coaches, parents, and players to set expectations for behavior, practice, and team culture. Works to develop a positive athlete-teacher relationship. Initiates grade checks and, if necessary, conducts the athlete study program. Directs and mentors assistant coaches, inspiring excellence in the planning and execution of the football program. Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the football program. Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with TAPPS regulations. Coaches team members individually and in groups, and demonstrates game techniques. Oversees the strength and conditioning program for football athletes. Continues professional growth by attending classes, workshops, and affiliations with professional organizations, Works to create relationships with community leaders, opposing coaches, and other schools in our area. Assists athletes who want to compete in college. Ensures adherence to all school and TAPPS rules by athletes and supporting staff. Communicates regularly and in a timely fashion with parents and students about football activities and events. Uplifts and energizes assistant coaches, athletes, and their families through authentic servant leadership. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education: Degree, experience, and references are required Preferred Experience: Proven experience as a Head Football Coach or Director of Football, with a demonstrated record of building and elevating successful football programs.
