Description Position Summary: The Director of Marketing & Foundation provides strategic leadership and hands-on execution for all marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives for Harlan County Health System (HCHS). This role is responsible for strengthening the organization’s brand, increasing community engagement, supporting service-line growth, and leading fundraising efforts through the HCHS Foundation. The Director serves as a visible representative of the organization, collaborating with leadership, clinical teams, providers, and community partners to advance the mission, strengthen community presence, and support long-term sustainability. Essential Job Functions: Marketing & Communications Leadership Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals. Oversees branding, messaging, and visual identity to ensure consistency across all platforms and materials. Manages recruitment initiatives, community outreach, and special events. Oversees internal communications to support employee engagement and organizational alignment. Serves as a resource to departments for marketing guidance, project planning, and promotional needs. Digital & Media Strategy Oversees website content, social media platforms, digital advertising, and online reputation management. Tracks and analyzes marketing metrics to assess effectiveness and guide strategic adjustments. Ensures marketing practices comply with healthcare regulations, privacy standards, and organizational policies. Foundation & Fund Development Develops and executes annual fundraising plans, including events, grants, and sponsorships. Oversees donor stewardship, recognition, and communication efforts to promote long-term engagement. Event Planning & Community Engagement Plans and coordinates fundraising events, community outreach initiatives, and organizational campaigns. Represents HCHS at community events, meetings, and public forums. Budgeting, Reporting & Administration Develops and manages marketing and foundation budgets. Tracks fundraising performance, donor activity, and campaign results. Prepares reports and presentations for leadership and board review. Ensures accurate recordkeeping and compliance with applicable fundraising regulations and reporting requirements. Leadership & Collaboration Serves as a member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational planning and decision-making. Collaborates with executive leadership, clinical leaders, HR, and other departments to support system-wide initiatives. Models professionalism, confidentiality, and a mission-driven approach in all interactions. Requirements Qualifications: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field. Proven experience leading marketing, communications, or fundraising initiatives. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal teams and external partners. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with professionalism and discretion. Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, branding, media relations, and CRM or fundraising systems. Preferred Qualifications 5–7 years of experience, including responsibility for strategy development or leadership. Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or community-based organizations. Background in fundraising, donor relations, or grant writing. Core Competencies: Strategic thinker with strong execution skills. Comfortable serving as a public-facing representative of the organization. Relationship-driven with a high degree of professionalism. Creative, organized, and detail oriented. Passion for community impact and mission-based work. Working Conditions: Primarily office-based with regular computer and phone use. May involve occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and periodic travel within the facility or external locations for meetings and other work-related activities.
