Position Summary The Director of Global Competencies & Futures is an academic and pedagogical leader of THINK Global School, responsible for leading the implementation, and continuous improvement of the school’s competency-based education model. The role is responsible for leading the implementation of competency-based education, including learning innovation, competency-based assessment and reporting, global program coherence, and the development of pathways toward students’ post-secondary futures. As a member of the Onsite Leadership Team, working alongside the Principal and Director of Whole-Being, the Director of Global Competencies & Futures ensures that the academic program supports transformative, place-based learning experiences and builds a strong foundation for students’ futures, whether university, creative pathways, careers, or purpose-driven lives. You’ll travel with the school, spending eight weeks each term in a different country and living alongside our community. The Role: Director of Global Competencies & Futures at THINK Global School 1. Academic & Learning Leadership Ensure all learning aligns with TGS Competency based model and accreditation requirements. Oversee curriculum coherence and quality across countries, modules, and educators. Co-design and maintain curriculum frameworks, assessment policies, and project design protocols Support educators in creating rigorous, experiential, place-based learning grounded in local context and authentic global challenges. Ensure high-quality reporting practices, including timelines, review processes, and proofing oversight. Guide future-focused innovation in teaching and learning, including digital learning, experiential design, and global learning partnerships. Collaborate with Onsite Leadership and the In-Country Coordinator to secure academic logistics, local partnerships, and access to learning environments. 2. Educator Team Leadership & Supervision Lead and support the team of six Educators through instructional coaching and professional development. Help foster a culture of collaboration, trust, reflection, and innovation across the educator team. Support Principal with allocating teaching responsibilities, module pairings, and project supervision assignments across the academic year. Provide responsive support to educators by stepping in when needed to maintain a positive, effective, and well-coordinated learning environment. Identify, design, and implement professional learning experiences aligned with school priorities and educator growth. 3. Educational Technology & AI Integration Upskill educators by identifying training, coaching, and ongoing guidance in the use of emerging technologies. Support the integration of EdTech and AI practices into curriculum and instructional design to enhance learning experiences and student outcomes. Collaborate with academic teams and IT Director to identify opportunities for innovation, troubleshoot implementation challenges, and ensure seamless adoption across the program. Support the Principal to communicate the organization's AI in Education vision, strategy, and policy to parents and the wider community to foster understanding, build trust, and ensure broad stakeholder alignment. 4. Assessment, Mastery Learning & Student Project Pathways Oversee the design and implementation of all assessment systems, including competency-based assessment, formative feedback, and student self-reflection. Ensure quality assurance of: Mastery (Capstone) Projects Personal Pathway Projects Student Journey Portfolios & Presentations of Learning Support educators in mentoring student-led projects and using TGS design thinking and PBL frameworks effectively. Maintain coherence and documentation of student progress toward all graduation requirements 5. Futures & Post-Secondary Pathways Collaborate closely with the College Counselor to ensure students are future-ready, with strong portfolios, references, and academic documentation. Build and maintain external partnerships that expand opportunities for student projects, internships, and global networks. Support the development of future-readiness competencies, design thinking, global citizenship, innovation, self-direction, and reflective practice. Ensure learning experiences authentically prepare students for university, careers, entrepreneurship, and creative pathways. 6. Cross-School Collaboration & Onsite Leadership Team Participation Serve on the Onsite Leadership Team alongside the Principal and Director of Wholebeing, contributing to school-wide strategic planning, policy development, and long-term academic direction. Collaborate with the Director of Wholebeing to integrate well-being and SEL competencies within the academic experience, ensuring coherence across learning environments. Work across academic, residential, travel, and operations teams to ensure seamless program delivery across all countries. Support accreditation, inspection, and documentation processes. 7. Learning Data, Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement Design and lead a schoolwide approach to academic data collection, analysis, and reporting that strengthens evidence-based practice. Ensure that learning metrics meaningfully measure student growth, mastery, engagement, and program impact across countries, using insights to drive strategic improvement. Leverage data science and analytical findings to refine curriculum, elevate pedagogical practices, and guide educator professional learning. Develop tools and systems that promote evidence-informed decision making at all levels of the learning program. Partner with educators to build a culture of reflective practice grounded in student learning evidence, program evaluation and continuous improvement. Who You Are You are an experienced educational leader who believes that learning should be global, experiential, rigorous, and profoundly human. You have a strong grounding in pedagogy, curriculum design, experiential education, and competency-based assessment—paired with the ability to lead diverse teams in fast-moving, multicultural environments. You balance visionary thinking with operational excellence. You love designing learning systems as much as you love supporting teachers through the details of implementation. Qualifications Required Masters degree in Education Extensive experience in academic or instructional leadership within innovative, experiential, or international learning environments. Experience applying evidence-based research, data science, or learning analytics to inform instructional decisions and program design. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience including: developing and implementing school wide strategic initiatives full-time supervisory experience of professional staff and a demonstrated record of leading professional development Skilled at leveraging emerging educational trends and innovations to evolve learning experiences and guide strategic program growth. Demonstrated expertise in: project and place-based learning competency-based or mastery assessment interdisciplinary curriculum design educator coaching and supervision Strong cultural competence and ability to thrive in a globally mobile school setting. Very strong and effective communicator, both written and oral. Ability and willingness to travel and live with the TGS community across global locations. Willingness to do onsite residential duties when onsite. Technology Skills: Competency with Google apps especially Calendaring, Spreadsheets, Forms, and AI Gemini Technology Skills: Ability to self-assess personal skill level and the motivation to learn new skills. Current First Aid certification required Preferred Experience in experiential, residential, or global mobility learning environments. Background in futures thinking, design thinking, innovation education, or global competencies. Knowledge of university admissions processes, student project pathways, or career readiness frameworks. Multilingual background or experience living and working abroad. Physical Requirements Frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (22kg) for various classrooms and events needs. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Typical physical fitness level: As a traveling boarding school. Staff employed are required to participate on extended expeditions outside the normal school day. Staff will be required to move on their own with little assistance, carry 20-65 pounds (10 - 25kg) over varying terrain, enter and exit a boat with little assistance and be able to upright themselves in case of a boat tipping. Staff will be on and off trail at elevations of 7,000-14,000 feet.
