Overview:
The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Director of Grants & Impact Funding supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this position is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive grants and impact funding strategy for the YMCA of Greenville. This role manages current funder relationships, cultivates new opportunities, and ensures timely application and reporting processes across foundation, corporate, and government support. As a strategic partner to branches, membership, and the national YMCA network, this position plays a vital role in sustaining and growing philanthropic investment in mission-aligned programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, public administration, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in grant writing, institutional giving, or nonprofit fundraising
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Proven track record securing and managing foundation, corporate, and/or government grants.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, logic models, and outcome reporting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience working in donor databases or CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal and external partnerships.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.

  • Grant Writing & Management: Demonstrated ability to write and manage successful grant proposals across foundation, corporate, and government funding sources.
  • Strategic Thinking: Skilled in developing and implementing funding strategies aligned with organizational priorities, including proactive identification of new funding opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate and steward funder relationships through engagement, communication, and collaboration.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent writing and storytelling abilities to communicate impact, craft compelling proposals, and report program outcomes.
  • Project & Time Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and reporting requirements with attention to detail.
  • Data and Impact Reporting: Proficient in collecting and presenting program data and outcomes to meet funder requirements and demonstrate community impact.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with donor databases and CRM tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and grant tracking systems.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Ability to work across departments and with external partners to align funding with program needs and strategic goals.
