Job Description: Summary: Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing and in coordination with the Assistant Administrator/Administrative Director, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the clinical care and well-being of the residents of the Assisted Living (RCF-1) in accordance with the policies and procedures of EverTrue and the government regulation of long-term care facilities. Guidance, instruction and education of the Health Services Staff to assure the provision of quality care to assure that the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the resident are met. Upholds the philosophy, core values and goals of the organization and ensures the Christian Mission of EverTrue is realized so that “Older Adults Live Life to the Fullest”. Responsibilities: Coordinates, monitors and supervises the daily activities of the Health Services department personnel. Makes routine rounds to residents to assess clinical problems as they arise. Communicate with residents, family and physician, Director of Nursing and Home Health staff as necessary. Responds to call lights and telephone in a prompt, professional manner. Maintains consistent application of EverTrue policies; participate in coaching/counseling of nursing service personnel as necessary. Participates in the development, maintenance, updating and staff education of written policy and procedures that govern the day-to –day functions of the Health Service Department. Performs administrative duties, including, but not limited to workforce performance evaluations, determining work assignments and scheduling, medical record documentation, and other written and oral reports as required. Maintains on-call availability for Health Services staff questions, concerns and emergencies twenty-four hours per day. Arranges for coverage of shifts resulting for staff unscheduled absences. Participates in direct resident care when necessary; assures accurate administration of medications as ordered by the resident’s physician. Performs pre-admission assessments and evaluation to potential residents. Involves ability to drive safely. Participates in Committee meetings as required; holds regularly scheduled meetings with Health Services staff. Communicates with the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator daily and as needed for non-clinical issues. Participates in survey (inspections) made by authorized agencies. Maintains a safe work environment; practices good infection control procedures. Must demonstrate, upon request, the fundamentals of disaster preparedness as outlined in the Disaster Preparedness Plan. Follows, understands and promotes infection control policies and procedures. Monitors compliance of Health Services staff. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. -Two to four years of related supervisory experience in a geriatric environment -If working in a Missouri Community, job holder must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing -If working in a Missouri Community, job holder must possess a current MO nursing license (RN or LPN) -Must be CPR certified -Must posses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must posses the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional employees. Must have patience, tact, flexibility, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
