JOB SUMMARY

The Hospice Director is the senior leader for the only hospice agency in the Baylor Scott & White Health system. Averaging over 200 patients on census daily, with capacity for growth, the Hospice Director oversees all operations in a service area that geographically extends north of Waco to Austin, and that is not only certified by the Joint Commission but holds 4 and 5 star CMS ratings. In addition, the agency provides GIP coverage at 5 Baylor Scott & White Health hospitals throughout Central Texas. This role requires not only hospice experience, but also experience managing all aspects of operations, including but not limited to strategy and growth planning and execution, marketing, full financial accountability, extensive human resources experience, knowledge of regulations, revenue cycle management, compliance, staff development and how to form effective relationships with community partners and agencies.

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Registered Nurse (RN)
Responsibilities
  • Guide clinical care services for hospice and home within your area of responsibility.
  • Develop strategic and operational plans that align with the organization’s business goals. Put these plans into effect.
  • Supervise care coordination for partners, ensuring excellent patient care in hospice, home care, and joint ventures.
  • Monitor and report safety issues. Investigate to prevent harm in various healthcare settings, including home and hospice care.
  • Develop and monitor settings for collaborative care that are based on proper protocols and standards.
  • Implement operation guidelines for our hospice and home services, that highlight current nursing research findings.
  • Work with senior managers and teams to provide hospice and home care services. Help implement programs, procedures, and track results.
  • Work with managers to promote our hospice and home care services by raising awareness, acquiring patients, and referring stakeholders.
  • Participate in various meetings to voice nursing perspectives regarding issues, care models, workflow opportunities, and new use cases.
  • Study clinical procedures and make changes to boost patient care quality in hospice and home environments.
