As the Director of Human Resources, you will play a strategic and hands-on role in shaping a positive, high-performing workplace culture that supports the mission and operational goals of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of human resources management, including staff development, recruitment, performance management, compliance, employee engagement and wellness. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to leadership, oversees HR systems and processes, and drives initiatives that enhance employee well-being, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and support long-term talent planning.
You will normally work 37.5 hours per week in our hybrid work environment - both from home and at the St. Louis BBB office.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to cultivate an effective and values-driven workplace culture.
  • Lead staff development, training, and performance management initiatives.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and implement succession planning strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with staff records and HR policies.
  • Monitor and improve employee safety protocols.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews to inform organizational improvement.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Employee Handbook.
  • Manage and enhance HR systems and administrative processes.
  • Coordinate employee benefits and wellness initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations concerns.
  • Lead initiatives outlined in the annual strategic plan.
  • Support special projects and priorities set by the executive team.
