POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Human Resources will serve as a strategic and operational leader, responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with company goals. This role will oversee all aspects of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development, compliance, and HR systems integration.
Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the Director will play a pivotal role in fostering a high-performing workforce, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leveraging HR data to drive informed decision-making. With a focus on both strategic vision and operational excellence, this role will help shape the company’s culture and enhance employee engagement across Canadian locations (Vaughan/Quebec/Calgary, AB).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including both strategic and operational responsibilities.
  • Strong experience working in or with manufacturing organizations is preferred.
  • Expertise in Canadian labour laws and HR best practices, with experience supporting multi-site teams.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to balance administrative and strategic responsibilities effectively.
  • Proficiency in HR systems, system integration, and leveraging data analytics for decision-making.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and align teams to drive progress.
  • High-level discretion and confidentiality in managing sensitive employee matters.

Responsibilities:

  • HR Strategy Development: Design and implement HR strategies that align with business goals and foster a high-performing organization.
  • Workforce Planning: Build a skilled workforce by forecasting needs, fostering employability longevity, and achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Employee Engagement: Use analytics, iterative experimentation, and feedback to enhance employee engagement, culture, and capabilities.
  • Leadership Development: Foster leadership growth through targeted coaching, training, and constructive feedback.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Manage competitive compensation and benefits programs tailored to Canadian markets.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and municipal employment laws, including the Canada Labour Code, Employment Standards Acts, and other applicable regulations. Maintain compliance through meticulous tracking, documentation, and reporting.
  • HR Operations and System Integration: Oversee the integration and maintenance of HR systems to ensure seamless functionality, accurate data management, and compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations. Leverage HR analytics to support informed business decisions and improve operational efficiency.
  • Regulatory and Policy Oversight: Maintain and enhance policies, procedures, and records to ensure compliance with all relevant Canadian regulations. Lead audits and ensure the accuracy of data for reporting purposes.
  • Safety and Well-being: Partner with leadership to embed safety and employee well-being into organizational culture and operational practices.
  • Administrative Excellence: Balance strategic leadership with operational oversight, including maintaining accurate workflows, employee data, and compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams to align policies, systems, and procedures across Canadian locations.
