Description Job Title: Director of Human Resources Department: Human Resources Reports To: General Manager / Area Director of HR Job Code: 802080 FLSA Status: Exempt ________________________________________ Position Summary: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading the HR function, overseeing all aspects of human resources including recruitment, associate relations, training and development, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and organizational development. The role is a key member of the hotel’s Executive Committee and collaborates with department leaders to maintain a positive and productive workplace culture in alignment with the hotel’s service standards and brand values. ________________________________________ Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall business goals. Manage the full associate life cycle: recruitment, onboarding, engagement, performance, development, and separation. Serve as a trusted advisor to department heads and associates on HR-related matters. Champion a positive workplace culture that promotes diversity, inclusion, and high associate engagement. Lead and manage compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEOC, wage & hour). Oversee payroll processing and benefits administration in coordination with accounting/payroll teams. Handle associate relations issues professionally and confidentially, conducting thorough investigations when needed. Develop and manage HR budgets, forecasts, and reports. Ensure all associate records, handbooks, job descriptions, and HR systems are current and compliant. Coordinate hotel orientation and ongoing training programs to support associate development and service excellence. Lead performance review cycles, succession planning, and talent development initiatives. Represent HR in safety committee meetings, audits, brand inspections, and legal proceedings, as required. Maintain relationships with union representatives (if applicable) and oversee adherence to labor contracts. ________________________________________ Working Conditions: On-site role at the hotel with frequent interaction with all departments. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. Occasional travel for training or corporate meetings may be required. Requirements Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality or service industry; at least 2 years in a senior HR leadership role. Experience in a full-service or luxury hotel environment strongly preferred. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices. Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities. Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical plans. Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other) preferred, depending on hotel location.
