Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Director of Individual Giving for our Concord Administrative office. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week. SUMMARY

The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and sustainability of PPNorCal’s individual giving program, which accounts for 60-70% of development revenue. This leadership role will oversee the individual giving team, manage a portfolio of major donors, and drive initiatives to cultivate, steward, and expand donor relationships. The Director reporting to the Vice President of Development will assist in the design and implement a comprehensive major gifts program, oversee fundraising events, and support campaigns and special fundraising strategies. As a thought leader within the development department and organization, the Director will play a key role in shaping PPNorCal’s philanthropic vision and culture of giving.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a strong track record in individual giving and major gifts.
• Demonstrated success in managing donor relationships and securing major gifts.
• Experience supervising and developing fundraising professionals.
• Strong understanding of donor-centered fundraising and strategic philanthropy.
• Experience working in reproductive health, health care, or social justice organizations is a plus.
• Experience managing a union represented workforce a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and support staff.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence high-level donors and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including donor proposals, impact reports, and presentations.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable fundraising plans.
• Proficiency in fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Range: Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) supports California’s new law (SB 1162) enhancing pay transparency. This new law requires employers with 15 or more employees to include a pay range in job postings. The pay range reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. Employees with more experience, education, and other qualifying factors may be compensated at a higher rate of pay.
The pay range for this position is: $145,000 - $165,000 annualized salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the strategic development and execution of PPNorCal’s individual giving program, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and donor engagement.
• Partner with the Vice President of Development to refine and expand the major gifts program, including donor pipeline development, portfolio management, and solicitation strategies.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of all stewardship strategies to ensure excellence in donor engagement and experience.
• Supervise, mentor, and support a team of philanthropy professionals to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.
• Manage a portfolio of key major donors, cultivating and stewarding relationships to maximize support and engagement.
• Oversee the planning and execution of major donor and fundraising events, ensuring alignment with strategic revenue and engagement goals.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for donor retention, acquisition, and upgrades, with a focus on personalized engagement and impact-driven storytelling.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, communications, and program staff, to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and financial goals.
• Provide leadership in campaign planning and special fundraising initiatives, ensuring strategic donor involvement and investment.
• Develop and maintain robust systems for tracking donor engagement, gift solicitation, and stewardship activities using Raiser’s Edge NXT and other relevant tools.
• Analyze and report on individual giving trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for growth to senior leadership.
• Serve as a thought leader in the development department, contributing to organizational strategy, innovation, and donor-centered best practices.
• Advance the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by integrating equitable fundraising practices and fostering an inclusive donor community.
