The hotel Director of IT is responsible for the compliance of the Information Technology and Audio-Visual environment within the hotel or hotels they are responsible for. This includes, but not limited to Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations, local data regulations, network security compliance and regulations, end of life management and planning, project management, budget planning, compliance with the MOHG Product Standards and Guidelines, external and internal audit compliance and routine task management.
The Director of IT is the main technical interface between the hotel operations and the corporate function of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
The Director of IT responsibilities are generally separate from the hotel(s) IT Support team and should be available weekdays for escalation, colleague engagements, and corporate IT critical tasks or follow up.
It is the Director of IT (Amsterdam)’s goal to provide excellent services that delight the guests, support customer requirements and ensures that all business-related objectives are met and that system stability and continuity are maintained:
- To identify business issues, risks and efficiencies, coupled with making and implementing improvements to the company IT policy and procedures to enable a full understanding of the business which will ensure timely and appropriate decisions are made;
- To manage the on-going maintenance and support of the hotel systems and ensure that appropriate maintenance contracts are in place;
- To be able to manage crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems;
- To provide adequate physical security for hardware and related items, ensure that systems are physically secure and that data is password protected and ensure that access to hotel systems and technology are protected from unauthorized access
- To evaluate colleagues’ needs and system functionality;
- To plan, develop and implement the IT budget, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, where appropriate, to ensure cost effectiveness;
- To support Department Heads and Human Resources by co-ordinating on-going application training and ensuring that systems are used properly, productively to ensure that full benefits can be realised;
- To ensure that all legal requirements pertaining to software and software licenses are adhered to and that no illegal software is being used in the hotel;
- To follow the guidelines given in any standards and other documentation produced by the region or the group;
- To ensure all local procedures and reporting comply with all MOHG Policies and Procedures and assist internal and external audit personnel in validating compliance.
- Publish and maintain the hotel’s business continuity plan for IT&T emergencies that is incorporated into the hotel’s operational BCP
To be a successful Director of IT, Amsterdam candidate, you will have:
- A degree in information technology or a similar discipline coupled with a minimum 3 years’ experience in hotel system management, alternatively a minimum of 5 years in the hotel industry working at a senior management level.
- Experience and education on Microsoft networking preferably with an updated certification of MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer)
- Experience and education on Cisco and Ruckus network equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of office application products
- Strong Server and desktop maintenance and troubleshooting experience
- Experience and knowledge of the following core hotel systems: SMS|Host property management; Delphi sales and catering; Infrasys point of sale; Sun Systems back office; Moreton Bay Purchasing Management; Alice rapid response; Keylock and related system; IP PBX, Call Accounting, Voice Mail; IP In-room entertainment system; High speed internet access; Systems specific to the local hotel
- Analytical approach to problem solving and a regard for detail and accuracy
- Skill and proven experience in project management
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and inter-personal skills
