DIRECTOR OF IT

OUR CLIENT requires a Director of IT. This is a full-time staff position in Ottawa, ON. Salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2025.

The Director of IT oversees the organization’s IT operations, ensuring efficient and secure technology systems align with business goals. This role involves managing the IT infrastructure, developing strategies, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity and cybersecurity.

  • Lead IT operations, including infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity.
  • Evaluate, modify, and create information systems policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and technology procurement.
  • Supervise IT staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with data security regulations and conduct audits.
  • Collaborate with executives to plan future IT initiatives.
  • Ability to obtain Canadian and international security clearances as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 7–10 years of IT management experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Expertise in IT systems, networks, and cybersecurity practices.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Planning, Management & Strategy- manage the entire corporate IT infrastructure across sites.
  • Establish, measure, and define IT business function goals to reduce redundancies and build contingencies with an IT roadmap for implementation and changes.
  • Provide recommendations and the supporting rationale by assessing the market on cost vs value and risks for IT solutions against current and future business scenarios.
  • Prioritize the phased implementation of new IT systems, processes, and initiatives to optimize business performance and automation. Managing the implementation to ensure successful integration and adoption for the business.
  • Develop, manage, control spending, and report on the department budget for general IT activities, corporate requirements, and prioritized upgrade or implementation projects.
  • Advise and support business planning activities to ensure that IT considerations are considered.
  • As required, lead, train, and coordinate with IT staff, stakeholders, partners, and support to realize corporate objectives, obligations, and strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes and advancements in technology offerings, security, automation opportunities, and legislations to ensure compliance and adoption as necessary with the intent to identify opportunities for gaining and maintaining a competitive advantage.
  • Own, create, develop, and update IT policies and procedures relevant to IT within the organization to ensure compliance and manage risk.
