ABOUT THE ROLE

McLeod Lake Indian Band is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Tse’khene Language and Culture to lead efforts in preserving, revitalizing, and promoting Tse’khene language, traditions, and cultural heritage. This role works closely with Elders, community members, and leadership to ensure ancestral knowledge is passed on to future generations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead language revitalization initiatives, immersion programs, and cultural workshops
  • Collaborate with Elders and knowledge keepers to document oral histories and traditional practices
  • Organize community events, ceremonies, and teachings to foster pride in Tse’khene heritage
  • Build partnerships with schools, governments, and organizations to support Indigenous language and cultural initiatives
  • Supervise and mentor culture and language department staff, ensuring high-quality cultural programming
  • Oversee department budgets, funding opportunities, and cultural archives
