EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Four-year college degree required with coursework in the areas of English, communications, marketing, journalism, or related areas, or the equivalent.
At least five years of paid experience in public relations, community relations, communications, marketing, or other related areas. Nonprofit experience a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and strategic thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated creative skills and abilities.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with CFSW staff, board members, component fund leaders, and other constituents.
Ability to work independently and to take initiative, as well as be a team player.
Track record of high-quality writing, designing, and producing publications and other collateral within schedule and budget.
Successful media relations.
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated experience managing and leveraging social media communication channels as well as direct contact (email, direct mail, etc) channels.
Strong working knowledge of graphic design concepts and technology.
Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Acrobat, Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, is a plus.
Ability to perform all duties with professionalism and demonstrated ethical values.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Director of Marketing and Communication is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that build awareness, understanding, and recognition of CFSW’s vision, mission, and impact.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop an annual marketing and communication strategy, work plan, and budget that strengthen and boost CFSW’s engagement and top-of-mind awareness with all target audiences and stakeholders.
Implement and execute the plan in a timely and consistent manner.
Develop marketing and communication goals and associated metrics that support the plan and provide ongoing feedback and progress reports to appropriate stakeholders.
Ensure consistent and compelling design of both CFSW and component funds’ brand and communication materials.
Supervise, manage, and assist with the writing, editing, design, and distribution of branded materials, including printed and electronic material produced on behalf of CFSW and component funds.
Lead website and social media content management, develop strategies to ensure consistent, compelling, and real-time messaging across the organization.
Develop and implement ongoing stakeholder communication and touch points.
Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with traditional and emerging media outlets to promote CFSW and the component fund brand, activities, and community awareness. Serve as the media spokesperson and primary contact.
Supervise and manage the creative specialist and assist internal staff with external communication.
Assist the CEO with other outreach activities or projects as assigned, including but not limited to managing events, writing grant applications or proposals, developing and delivering presentations, developing surveys, assisting with training component fund managers or volunteers, or any activity to advance the mission, vision, and reach of CFSW.
