Under the direct supervision of the Bishop and in accordance with established policies and procedures, responsible for supporting and advancing the mission and vision of the Diocese of Beaumont through creation and production of visual materials. Responsible for creating and developing visual illustration and storytelling across multiple platforms from start to finish, using photography, videography, audio, website, and graphics in order to inform, engage, and educate. Responsible for ensuring that the diocesan website is representative of the Bishop’s vision and mission of the Church.
Requirements:

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Experience in video production from pre- to post-production.
  • Core photojournalism skills.
  • Skill in visualizing and shooting concepts effectively.
  • Sense of shot composition and visual aesthetic, creativity.
  • Aptitude for translating ideas into compelling visuals and audio.
  • Strong understanding of editing techniques and narrative flow.
  • Ability to use basic and advanced computer programs, including but not limited to video and audio editing software and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience with advanced multimedia storytelling techniques on multiple platforms including social media.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Ability to create Graphic Designs and knowledge of the creative/design process.
  • WEBMASTER FOR Diocesan website, including maintenance for user-friendliness input of new content and communication with Diocesan departments to keep pages up to date.
  • Advise on selection of special effects for particular scenes.
  • Maintain and manage department’s budget.
  • Responsible for overlook and maintenance of diocesan website and ongoing web structure and its organization, input new material and maintain logical user-friendly format.
  • Responsible for diocesan website content for other departments is appropriate for medium.
  • Responsible for visual messages of the annual appeal and other diocesan marketing and communication campaigns including but not limited to Encounter Catholic
  • Responsible for compiling visual materials to market ideas created by Bishop, the department and the Diocesan Stewardship Council and, when appropriate, other diocesan ministries.
  • Determine needs of the community served through the web and other media. This can include analyzing hit counts and trends, gathering information through focus groups and surveys.
  • Collaborates with local media partners to create medial schedules.
  • Ensure website is representative of the Bishop’s vision and the mission of the church
  • Training diocesan personal on the use, potential and benefits of the website as well as social media.
  • Creates ads for diocesan newspaper, directory, as well as other external publications.
  • Responsible for the creation and physical design of the ETC Online.
  • Will act as public ambassador through community outreach and will connect with people through social media.
  • Work with communications team in creation of promotional and content-driven messages
  • Will use creativity, experience and dedication to contribute to the growth of the Diocese.
  • Oversees communications team regarding preconceived ideas and physical realities of production setting.
  • Supports team throughout production process, which may include finding interview subjects, assisting with creation of graphics needed for video works, and presentation to other ministries.
  • Communicates with communications team to improve the effects of images and sounds.
  • Sustain and guide creative processes.
  • Establish marketing goals and maintain Media Buys.
  • Provides technical expert advice, direction and guidance on media projects.
  • Shoots scenes and records images for all videos including television, web, advertisement, and promotions as well as live broadcasts when appropriate.
  • Videotapes material for production using video camera equipment.
  • Collects b-roll footage as well as interviews.
  • Assists in developing interview questions and storyboards.
  • Collect and assemble all unfinished clippings and video footage onto a computer system on which the work is to be done.
  • Creates and maintains video archives.
  • Makes technical decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angle, and placement and type of microphone.
  • Edits and assembles final visual/audio material, integrates video and audio capability; oversees audio mixing and sound production.
  • Ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product.
  • Tests all equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio, and lighting apparatus prior to operation in the field. Evaluates and maintains all equipment.
  • Oversees the security, operation and maintenance of equipment utilized in shooting and editing.
  • Transports, sets up, and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location and studio production.
  • Prepares small sample clips to be shown to ministries.
  • Use animation and editing skills along with sound mixing to create videos.
  • Ability to visualize script as narrated by writers.
  • Expert editor – develop visual content and assemble a variety of communication channels, including films/scripts, audio formats, images, and graphic elements.
  • Cuts, edits, and composes footage to express the emotions, intention and effects expected by director or producer.
  • Recommends and applies new trends and skills in videography technology.
  • Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
  • Act as wise steward of department and diocesan resources.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Communications and two years’ experience in the field or in a related area or five years’ experience in communications field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations relating to the position. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals using U.S. standards of currency and measurement. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be knowledgeable and respectful of the Catholic faith.
