* Develop, maintain and lead a learning culture amongst the nursing team.  * Establish, monitor and ensure professional standards of care are maintained within the Nursing Department. * Be a member of the Hospital Management Executive committee and participate with the leaders of the governing body, management, and medical staff in development of hospital plans, programs and policies. * Be responsible for written policies and procedures that guide support and assist nursing personnel in the function of their duties. These policies should be updated at least every 2 years. * Work with HR’s Performance Improvement Management Plan based on Hospital Improvement Plan to include but not limited to, performance improvement utilization review and risk management. * Be responsible for the overall administration of the nursing departments and maintain the quality of nursing care in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Department Heads. * Ensure that programs and standards for ongoing education of nurses are established periodically. * Ensure the Nursing Department is informed as to hospital policies, regulations and accreditation standards which impact on the quality of patient care. Investigate and take appropriate action on matters of concern, reporting findings and subsequent recommendations to the Chairman/Deputy Chairman and other relevant Department Heads. * Any Sentinel or serious incident related to nursing practice must trigger a Nursing Process Review with timely actions to assure safe practice which learns from mistakes and triggers necessary change. * Establish and ensure written Standing Orders and Regulations for the Nursing Department is carried out and is reviewed on a regular basis.  * Facilitate communications between nurses and other members of the health care disciplines. * Chair or delegate authority to designated representative for nursing department meetings. Ensure that representatives of nursing staff are appointed to appropriate committees of the hospital. * Serve on Administrative and other hospital committees as requested. * Assist in determination of the department priorities and related allocation of resources in relation to the department needs. * Develop staffing needs and participates in recruitment planning for resources allocation in coordination with management. * Participate in facility planning affecting the Nursing Department. * Undertake annual staff appraisals, performance focus and consider individual training needs in collaboration with Personnel Department/Human Resource Department. * Promote core values of the hospital and ensure implementation of the departments’ philosophy. * Foster a climate of personnel challenge and professional growth for all the members of the Nursing Department.  * Be familiar with and lead emergency and evacuation procedure. * Advocates for nursing to the hospital leadership governing group. * Develops strategic operational and fiscal goals in collaboration with inpatient medical and allied health leadership. * Ensures that realistic and cost-effective operational and capital budgets are developed and operationalized. * Oversees department operating expenses and plans capital equipment purchases. * Establishes and meets budgetary targets; maximizes ancillary revenue-capture for services provided to patients.   To support and demonstrate our NMC Nursing Mission, Vision, and Values: Our Nursing Vision: At NMC Healthcare, we are committed to providing clinical excellence through safe, compassionate, and individualized care to every patient, every time.Our Nursing Mission: To exemplify clinical excellence, every NMC nurse will seek to: * Do the right thing * Be the patient’s advocate * Be open and transparent * Deliver safe, compassionate care * Recognize the uniqueness of each patient * Contribute to an outstanding patient’s experience * Engage with and contribute to, a learning culture * Lead and influence changes in healthcare Our Nursing Values: We will achieve this through our core values:  * Safety * Excellence * Ethics * Trust * Collaboration The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, uphold and live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their patient, to the patient's bystanders all the time, every time.
