POPULATION SERVED The position involves direct and indirect patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Nursing is responsible and accountable for Skilled Nursing Services provided in compliance with the state of California, Title 22 Nursing Service. The DON is responsible to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Skilled Nursing Services in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be directed by the CEO and the Medical Director to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. The Director of Nursing is responsible for development and maintenance of nursing policy and procedure manuals, written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel, scheduling of daily rounds to see all patients, methods for coordination of nursing services with other patient services, for recommending the number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed and nursing staff development. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization’s strategic plan and the goals. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASPECTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL SERVICES, IN ADDITION TO ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE JOB DESCRIPTION Provides leadership, support and participation in Hospital QAPI meetings. Maintains safe environment through strict enforcement of all Infection Control policies and monitoring of effective and safe housekeeping practices. Implements Coalinga Regional Medical Center Skilled Nursing standards related to Title 22, California Code of Regulations SS 70217 Nursing Service Staff. Implements core curriculum and competency validation through education. Meet regulatory requirements for documentation. Implements core programs. Implements significant corporate clinical initiatives: VAP and CVS line bundles, hourly bundle and others as directed by Coalinga Regional Medical Center Follows and administers HR policies. Consults with HRM as needed. Requirements A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as an RN and three (3) years’ experience as a supervisor or management level responsibility. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Current California RN License Current BLS and ACLS card STAFF DEVELOPMENT Has annual physical and TB test as required Participates in in-services and competencies as required. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis.
