Position Title: Director of Operations – Critical Infrastructure
Position Location: Remote – Work Virtually from Anywhere in the United States

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Operations provides senior-level leadership and strategic direction for the planning, execution, and delivery of mission-critical building automation, power monitoring, and software integration projects. These initiatives span utility, commercial, industrial, and technology sectors, including high-security and data center environments.
This role reports to the executive leadership team and partners closely with technical managers, project leaders, finance, legal, and business development teams. Externally, the Director engages with client executives, design engineers, contractors, vendors, and commissioning agents to ensure that Smart Tech Contracting’s solutions meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and compliance.
The Director of Operations is accountable for operational excellence, financial performance, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement across all projects, while positioning the organization for long-term growth in mission-critical markets.

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 20% travel to other jobsite locations, this may include travel to any of the 50 US states
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership in construction management, MEP systems, building automation, or mission-critical infrastructure; 5+ years in a senior operations or director role.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale, high-value projects in critical infrastructure markets (e.g., data centers, utilities, advanced manufacturing).
  • Expertise in BAS, EPMS, ICT systems, and integrated technology solutions.
  • Strong contract negotiation, financial management, and operational improvement skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Procore, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and relationship management skills.
