Position: Full-time RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Overview The The Director of Operations is a strategic, forward-thinking leader responsible for the comprehensive oversight and advancement of the organization’s operational infrastructure. This role provides direct leadership over Facilities, Security, Information Technology, and Transportation, with department Coordinators reporting directly to the Director. This position is ideal for a self-driven pioneer—someone who works independently with minimal supervision, proactively identifies operational gaps, and audits, designs, refines, and implements scalable systems in support of current operations and future expansion. The Director of Operations plays a critical role in market research, long-term planning, and ensuring organizational readiness for growth, while maintaining compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership & Oversight Provide direct leadership and supervision to Coordinators of: Facilities Security Information Technology Transportation Establish clear expectations, accountability structures, and performance metrics across all departments. Serve as the primary operational decision-maker, escalating only high-impact or strategic matters as needed. Systems Development & Process Improvement Conduct regular audits of operational systems, workflows, and procedures to ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability. Design, implement, and continuously refine systems that support a growing, multi-campus environment. Create standardized operating procedures, documentation, and internal controls across departments. Strategic Planning & Expansion Lead operational planning for future campuses, programs, and organizational growth. Conduct market research and operational feasibility studies to support expansion initiatives. Partner with executive leadership to forecast infrastructure needs and long-range operational capacity. Compliance & Legislative Monitoring Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy updates impacting K–12 operations, facilities, transportation, safety, and technology. Proactively adjust systems, procedures, and protocols to remain in compliance with evolving requirements. Ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews. Cross-Department Collaboration Collaborate closely with academic, finance, HR, and executive teams to align operational systems with organizational goals. Serve as a trusted thought partner in problem-solving, risk management, and operational decision-making. REPORTS TO: COO Requirements Required Qualifications Proven experience in operations management, systems development, or organizational infrastructure leadership Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage complex initiatives, and lead with minimal oversight Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to analyze systems, identify inefficiencies, and implement effective solutions Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or comparable productivity tools Basic knowledge of IT troubleshooting and technical support Experience coordinating events and managing logistics is a plus Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism Previous experience in sponsorship development, fundraising, or donor relations is advantageous Must successfully complete fingerprinting and pass a background screening through the Clearinghouse prior to employment Preferred Qualifications Experience in K–12 education or within a multi-site educational organization Background in market research, future planning, or organizational growth and expansion Familiarity with facilities management, safety and security protocols, transportation operations, and IT systems Experience interpreting legislative or regulatory updates and translating them into operational policies and procedures
