SUMMARY The Director of Operations is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and execution of all operational functions of the company. This role oversees the GSE rental fleet, parts management, maintenance and repair operations, logistics coordination, and overall field operations across multiple sites. The Director of Operations ensures operational excellence, maximizes equipment uptime and utilization, drives cost efficiencies, and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operations Management Lead day-to-day operations across all rental, service, and support functions to ensure efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction. Develop, implement, and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to promote operational consistency across all locations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, productivity, and service levels. Fleet and Equipment Oversight Manage the entire lifecycle of the GSE rental fleet, including acquisition planning, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal. Establish preventative maintenance programs and performance benchmarks to maximize equipment reliability and ROI. Ensure regulatory compliance for all equipment and vehicles. Service & Maintenance Management Oversee all aspects of maintenance operations including shop scheduling, technician performance, safety, tooling, and parts availability. Collaborate with shop leads and service managers to improve repair turnaround times and technician efficiency. Implement KPI-driven performance management for maintenance teams. Parts & Inventory Direct the parts supply chain including procurement, vendor relations, inventory levels, and distribution across sites. Monitor parts usage and implement controls to manage costs and prevent shrinkage. Evaluate and select vendors for quality, cost-effectiveness, and service. Logistics & Transportation Manage logistics strategies for efficient deployment and retrieval of rental equipment between sites and to customer locations. Optimize transportation schedules, routes, and costs. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and internal safety standards. Strategic Leadership & Financial Accountability Prepare and manage Operations budgets, capital expenditures, and cost-control measures. Analyze data and generate reporting to track Operations metrics (e.g., uptime, utilization, service calls, costs, revenue per unit). Team Leadership & Development Provide direction, coaching, and performance oversight for the Operations managers, supervisors, and support staff. Foster a culture of safety, performance excellence, and accountability. Identify talent development opportunities and succession planning needs. Requirements Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or equivalent preferred. 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably in the rental equipment, aviation, logistics, or heavy equipment sectors. Demonstrated success in managing multi-site operations and complex service environments. Strong knowledge of GSE or heavy equipment operations, maintenance, and fleet management. Proven ability to manage budgets, lead cross-functional teams, and drive change initiatives.
