POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Operations oversees the daily management and long-term strategic operational planning of the National Bowling Stadium and the Reno Event Center. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure smooth operations, exceptional guest experiences, and financial success. The Director of Operations is responsible for the operational budget, monitoring expenses, and implementation of cost-control measures, while facilitating staff development, recruitment, training, supervision, and fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Successfully tracks and manages scheduled repairs, preventive maintenance, and vendor coordination. Acts as a representative for the buildings during client site visits. Develops objectives related to the effective operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of the facility. Develops and implements practical and relevant short-term plans to accomplish these objectives working closely with the Engineering and Facility Teams. Prepares the annual budget for the National Bowling Stadium and Reno Event Center and maintains budgets that accurately support service levels and operational needs. Establishes and maintains accurate accounting of events, profit and loss statements and prepares appropriate and necessary reports to assist management in analyzing trends and effective marketing for future business. Exercises control over the authorized budget to keep expenditures within the limits set. Ensures events scheduled are properly set up, staffed properly. Inspects the facilities prior to, during, and after the events. Promptly notes deficiencies, and issues work orders to first line supervisors to correct these conditions. Generates a monthly performance report for the Executive Director of Venue Operations detailing departmental workload and work activities. Maintains the records necessary for such a report. Ensures security services preserve order, protect life and property, and enforce the rules and regulations of the RSCVA. Documents and regularly updates security service needs. Formulates and monitors goals, objectives, plans, and policies for adequately meeting these needs considering risk levels, legal mandates, and current and future costs. Communicates these goals, objectives, plans, and policies to department personnel, Executive Director of Venue Operations , and clients. Maintains a positive and professional image and builds an effective rapport with clients or potential clients. Supports the sales process and ensures the successful support of events prior to, during and after the event has ended. Works closely with clients ensuring all requests and contractual obligations are met. Investigates, analyzes, and resolves operational problems and complaints. Ensures a competent, professional, well-trained, and motivated staff that provides a positive environment for the successful staging of show activities. Responsible for training, developing, coaching, and evaluating staff performance. Provides timely and appropriate feedback to staff to ensure consistent, high-performance standards are maintained and achieved. Keeps the Executive Director of Venue Operations informed in a timely fashion on issues requiring their input or consent. Consistently demonstrate positive, interpersonal relations with all constituencies; cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishment of the RSCVA’s strategic goals and objectives. Ensures overall operations are performed with an emphasis on safety, as set forth by the RSCVA’s safety program. Is knowledgeable in the RSCVA Safety Program and takes necessary steps to maintain a safe work environment. Adheres to safe work practices to prevent injuries. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others. Observes all RSCVA and departmental policies governing conduct while at work (e.g., telephone and computer use, electronic messaging, smoking regulations, parking, breaks and other related policies). Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 6 years' experience in concert and trade show business. Knowledge of the capacity and capabilities of the National Bowling Stadium & Reno Events Center. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of the National Bowling Stadium & Reno Events Center. Knowledge of set-up and tear down requirements for concerts and events, and event operations and management practices. Knowledgeable in current industry practices, maintenance and cleaning activities including the proper and safe use of facility equipment, capital systems, and materials. Knowledgeable in recent developments, current literature, and sources of information regarding events center administration. Knowledge of safety requirements for public assembly, and fire and safety regulations. Knowledgeable in the rules and regulations relating to public health and safety in large building facilities. Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices, contract administration, leasing concessions, rental agreements, language, terms, and legal concepts. Must be familiar with various organizational functions, principles of supervision, personnel practices and techniques, including review techniques, and training methods. Proficient in basic computer skills and software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with staff, stakeholders, superiors, visitors, vendors, and the public. Must be highly motivated and self-directed, detail oriented, meet established deadlines, and professional in performance of duties. Effective negotiation skills. Ability to develop effective written policies, procedures, and practices. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; work independently in the absence of supervision. Possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License. WORKING CONDITIONS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: May be exposed to various temperatures, airborne particles, fumes, and chemicals both inside and outside the building. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office but can be loud during events. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Regularly required to move about the workspace, remain in a stationary position, and adjust body posture to access materials and equipment at various heights throughout the shift. Requires the ability to perform repetitive hand movements and fine motor tasks to operate tools, equipment, or controls necessary for essential job functions. Occasionally required to extend arms and hands to access or manipulate materials and equipment. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch in order to perform job duties. Occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
