TEGNA, a leading broadcast company, is seeking a dynamic and highly driven Director of Partnerships to lead our strategic partnerships for our portfolio of digital websites, apps, and experiences. This individual will play a key role in identifying, negotiating, and managing partnerships with partners related to the distribution or monetization of TEGNA’s digital content, including streaming platforms and FAST channels, content distribution partners, commerce partners, and independent content creators. You will be responsible for driving revenue through these partnerships, leveraging data-driven insights to maximize monetization opportunities across a variety of platforms and business models.
This is an individual contributor role that reports directly to the Vice President of Growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic partnerships, business development, and sales, and will be comfortable building financial models and strategic business cases to present to senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or sales, with 7+ years focused on negotiating complex, revenue-driving deals. Background in media distribution and streaming partnerships highly preferred.
  • Revenue-Driven: Proven track record of driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships, affiliate marketing, or e-commerce opportunities.
  • Strong Negotiator: Expertise in managing high-stakes negotiations and closing impactful deals.
  • Data-Driven: Ability to leverage data and insights to drive decision-making and optimize business strategies.
  • Financial & Strategic Acumen: Comfort with building financial models and strategic slide decks to present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Communication: Ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Location: Preference for candidates based in New York or Washington, D.C., though we will consider candidates in any TEGNA market.#LI-MS1
Responsibilities
  • Partnership Development & Negotiations: Lead partnerships with major distribution channels (e.g., social platforms), revenue partners, and other vendors that support the Growth team. Partner with internal teams to negotiate and review partner agreements.
  • FAST Channel Business Ownership: Own TEGNA’s relationships with FAST Channels and streaming platforms. Scale distribution via partnership expansion. In partnership with platforms and internal stakeholders, identify opportunities to grow audience and revenue from our distribution deals.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue through new and existing partnerships, leveraging data-driven insights to maximize monetization opportunities. Explore and evaluate new revenue streams, with a particular focus on affiliate and commerce partnerships.
  • Strategic Planning & Business Modeling: Build business cases and financial models to support partnership negotiations and revenue growth strategies. Present findings and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Influencer & Content Creator Engagement: Oversee the development of influencer and content creator partnerships to enhance TEGNA’s content, visibility, and expand our audience base.
  • Performance Metrics & KPIs: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue growth, partnership ROI, and engagement metrics to measure success.
  • Industry Networking & Representation: Represent TEGNA at industry events, conferences, and forums to build and maintain a strong network of strategic partners.
