We are looking for a Director of Patient Safety for our HCA Florida Citrus Hospital team where excellence creates excellence.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field required
  • CPPS (Certification in Patient Safety) (within one year of hire); Must also meet/comply with state requirements as applicable
  • Three to five years relevant experience in patient safety, risk and/or quality; Experience with electronic health records and reporting system preferred
  • Knowledge of patient safety science principles, theory, methods, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership qualities (task completion, motivation, organization) Knowledge of and experience with patient safety analysis techniques, including root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, and failure mode and effect analysis
  • Knowledge of rapid cycle improvement theory, patient safety science and human factor principles
  • Advanced computer skills with word processing in database competency

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will initiate and oversee proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes to prevent future errors.
  • You will implement information and management systems that support patient safety and use information from different sources to support the activities of the patient safety program.
  • You will oversee and coordinate the investigation of serious events and incidents as well as the internal and external reporting of those events.
  • You will facilitate and coordinate participation in Risk Reduction Program components.
  • You will guide facility leadership in activities that enable and sustain an open and fair environment that promotes learning, safe systems, and appropriately, managing behavioral choices related to patient safety (e.g. Patient Safety Rounds, Event Response, and Disclosure).
