The postholder will strengthen and clarify the focus on pedagogy, insight and end-to-end student experience through research informed pedagogy, not just UK based but using research from international best practice building world class skills through innovation and securing our position as a leader of lifelong learning. The Director of Pedagogy and Insight will drive the culture of critical thinking, supported by data and experiential insights. The post holder will drive continuous professional development for staff and working closely with the Director of Personal Development and Progression to strengthen student voice and ensure that all the learning is used purposefully to improve the overall student experience. The Director of Pedagogy and Insight will ensure creative and purposeful tension with curriculum colleagues to ensure an outstanding and student centred learner experience. The Director of Pedagogy and Insight will be a supportive member of the Strategic Leadership Team which drives a culture of high performance and expectations across all areas of the College. The post-holder will, from time to time, deputise for the Deputy Principal as required, and provide appropriate support and challenge to SLT colleagues to ensure consistent and outstanding approaches to research informed pedagogy and end-to-end experience for all students. Responsible to:Deputy Principal Key Responsibilities To take the strategic lead on strengthening the focus on pedagogy and the end-to-end student experience; increasing capacity for proactive engagement with both innovation and robust research informed pedagogy, supporting the College’s ambitions around world-class skills and our position as systems leaders across the Liverpool City Region education and skills and education ecosystem. Bring about strategic change to the quality of education and outcomes using insights and intelligence, the development of strong whole college and subject pedagogy, by staying abreast of sector and industry best practice To take the strategic lead on the development, implementation and monitoring of quality improvement and quality assurance processes and procedures across all provision types in the pursuit of excellence for all students whilst contributing to the delivery of the College’s Strategic Plan Champion the development and implementation of the college’s teaching, learning and assessment strategy, provide pedagogical leadership and provide a supportive framework for all colleagues in their ongoing development as inspirational teaching and learning professionals, leading to outstanding student outcomes and progression and in turn turning disadvantage to advantage. Champion new learning technologies and innovation throughout college, ensuring that staff have the appropriate skills to make best use of them to improve student experience. Provide inspirational leadership and effective management to each manager and members of staff within team and provide leadership contributions to the preparation and management for Ofsted inspections Implement strategies to assist colleagues to apply reflective and research informed practice to improve student engagement, raise students’ achievement and progression in line with the strategic plan. Drawing on the insights from the complaints process, use the intelligence meaningfully to improve the handling of complaints, by being customer focussed; and seeking continuous improvement to improve not only the student experience but that of all stakeholders. Effective working relationships with Directors of Education, Director of Personal Development and Progression and Director of Student Support and Well-Being to provide a framework of support and challenge in relation to the intent, implementation and impact of the quality of education Lead and successfully deliver the Quality and Performance cycle and its activities across all aspects of college provision, including Apprenticeships, Higher Education and subcontracted delivery, to include the management of Internal Quality Reviews and audits, Observations and associated CPD, moderation and reporting systems, and student surveys. Lead a continuous improvement culture through the development of KPIs, interrogation of datasets, monitoring of performance trends and production of related reports Drive the continuous professional development of College staff and contribute to the professional development activities for staff, delivering training sessions, working with external providers and liaising with HR colleagues. Provide inspirational leadership and effective management to each member of staff within the team which drives continuous improvement and a culture of high performance. Support and promote the College’s EDI strategy, translating this into strategic and operational actions that strengthen pedagogical approaches and deliver meaningful accomplishments in relation to the end-to-end experience and progression for all students. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential Criteria Proven, consistent delivery of success as the accountable person for improving student outcomes over consecutive years as the leader of a curriculum or cross-college department Relevant qualifications and experience Good understanding of OFSTED, SAR processes and quality inspection regimes, including successful experience of leading an inspection aspect Robust knowledge of research-informed approaches to addressing disadvantage and supporting learners to succeed Extensive experience of successfully leading Quality and Performance assurance and improvement activities across all aspects of college provision, including Apprenticeships, Higher Education and subcontracted delivery, to include the management of Internal Quality Reviews and audits, Observations and associated CPD, moderation and reporting systems, and student surveys.
