Director of People & Culture SACLA (Southern Alberta Community Living Association) Lethbridge, Alberta Full-Time | Senior Leadership Position About SACLA Southern Alberta Community Living Association (SACLA) supports individuals with developmental  disabilities to live meaningful, connected, and inclusive lives within their communities. Through  person-centered supports, housing, advocacy, and community engagement, SACLA is committed to  empowering the people we serve while fostering dignity, choice, belonging, and independence. SACLA operates within a dynamic and complex service environment and is a unionized workplace with  over 250 dedicated professionals and support staff. This role requires strong labour relations  leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and a balanced approach to workforce engagement and  operational accountability. As SACLA continues to strengthen and modernize its operations, we are seeking a strategic,  people-focused, and operationally strong Director of People & Culture to join our leadership team. Position Summary The Director of People & Culture is responsible for leading SACLA’s people strategy, workforce  planning, labour relations, recruitment, employee relations, organizational development, and P&C  operational systems. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role is a key member of the senior  leadership team and plays a critical role in supporting organizational stability, workforce  sustainability, leadership accountability, and culture development across the organization. The successful candidate will bring a balance of: •  Strategic P&C leadership •  Strong operational execution •  Labour and employee relations expertise •  Systems/process improvement capability •  Experience supporting complex, mission-driven organizations Experience within any of the following is considered a strong asset: •  Developmental disability services, •  Healthcare, •  Nonprofit organizations, •  Community-based social services, or similarly regulated and unionized environments Key Responsibilities Strategic Human Resources Leadership •  Lead the development and implementation of SACLA’s P&C strategy aligned with organizational  priorities and workforce needs •  Support organizational restructuring, leadership development, workforce stabilization, and  culture initiatives •  Provide strategic P&C advice and recommendations to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team •  Support succession planning and long-term workforce sustainability Labour Relations & Union Environment •  Lead labour relations activities within a unionized environment •  Interpret and administer collective agreements •  Support grievance management, investigations, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline  processes •  Foster collaborative and professional working relationships with union representatives •  Ensure compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational  policies Recruitment & Workforce Planning •  Oversee recruitment, onboarding process of new staff, retention, training programs and workforce  planning strategies •  Develop hiring practices focused on competency, equity, and organizational fit •  Support staffing stabilization initiatives within frontline and leadership positions •  Improve hiring efficiency and workforce responsiveness Leadership Support & Employee Relations •  Coach and support leaders on: o Performance management o Employee engagement o Workplace conflict o Attendance management o Investigations o Leadership accountability •  Promote respectful workplace practices and psychologically safe work environments •  Participate in the Senior Leadership On Call Cycle/Availability - to support operational  escalations as required P&C Systems & Operational Excellence •  Lead continuous improvement of P&C systems, processes, and reporting •  Support optimization and utilization of the organization’s P&CIS systems Preferred / Strong Asset: •  Hands-on working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS/payroll/workforce management  systems •  Experience implementing or optimizing P&C technology systems in a multi-business unit  environment Policy, Compliance & Risk Management •  Ensure organizational compliance with: o Alberta Employment Standards o Occupational Health & Safety legislation o Alberta Human Rights legislation o Privacy legislation o PDD contractual obligations o Accreditation requirements (CET / ACD •  Oversee: o P&C policies and procedures o investigations o accommodations o leave management o employee documentation standards Qualifications & Experience Required: •  Post-secondary education in: o Human Resources/People & Culture, o Business Administration, o Organizational Leadership, or Related Field •  Minimum 5–7 years progressive P&C leadership experience •  Experience working within a unionized environment •  Strong knowledge of Alberta employment and labour legislation •  Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and workforce initiatives •  Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills Preferred: •  CPHR designation (or working toward designation) •  Experience in nonprofit, disability services, healthcare, or community services sectors •  Experience with ADP Workforce Now or comparable P&CIS systems as strong asset •  Experience supporting multi-site operations and frontline workforces What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will help SACLA: •  Strengthen workforce stability and leadership accountability •  Improve P&C systems and operational effectiveness •  Build trust, consistency, and transparency across teams •  Support a respectful, high-performing, and mission-driven culture •  Modernize P&C practices while supporting frontline service excellence Why Join SACLA This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a respected community organization making a  meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.
