Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job. Job Summary The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for formulating the policies, managing, directing, and coordinating all services and programs of the department of Pharmacy. S/he accomplishes this by developing, organizing, and implementing programs and policies necessary to manage and control all Pharmacy services and assure quality distributive and clinical pharmacy services are provided to the Hospital. Actions of the Director of Pharmacy Services are subject to compliance with Hospital policies and procedures, JCAHO standards, and applicable State and Federal civil codes, and various State and Federal regulatory agencies. S/he is also responsible to continuously assess work environment and processes to identify safety risks and address safety issues identified or brought forward by staff, and resolve as appropriate. Essential Functions The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing nature or scope of this position or level of responsibility. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. Directs activities concerning the manufacture, compounding, dispensing and distribution of hospital medications and pharmaceuticals. Oversees staff to ensure the turn-around times, quality and range of services are acceptable to the medical staff and order entry reports are acceptable to the medical and nursing staffs and administration. Establishes and maintains a department Quality Review program to meets or exceed requirements of accrediting, licensing and regulatory agencies. Ensures all accreditation/licensing requirements related to the department are maintained. Oversees inventory system control of department supplies and pharmaceuticals purchases. Sources adequate substitutes for standard supplies and pharmaceuticals when required due to back orders, recalls, etc. Develops a patient charging and pricing system. Monitors patient charges on a regular basis. Develops and participates in drug education programs for hospital staff; supervises a drug information service. Monitors the work volume, relevancy equipment, resources and staffing levels of the department. Manages goal setting and performance development for the department Plans and manages the department budget. Ensures budget is within established guidelines and any expenses outside of budget are approved through upper management Recommends development of new Hospital policies, facilities and services. Provides administrative, technical and coordinating support to the Department of Pharmacy regarding Quality Assurance (QA). Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – Tri-Valley Care’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions Job Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy. B.S. in Pharmacy of PharmD degree Experience Eight (8) years previous supervisory experience Five (5) years of Hospital leadership experience License of practice pharmacy within the State of California Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to analyze, plan, organize and direct the work of others. Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels Strong computer and technology skills specific to Health Information Management, including retrieval of computerized patient health information. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Maintains industry knowledge through membership and participation in professional organizations. Ability to act as thought leader and operational expert. Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytic skills. Ability to adapt to changes and transformation within the environment. Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $99.93 - $133.92 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
