Job Details Job Location: Tulsa, OK 74135 Position Overview The Director of Philanthropy is a senior executive responsible for driving Bishop Kelley’s long-term financial sustainability through visionary leadership in advancement and fundraising. Reporting to the President and working in partnership with the Advancement Committee of the Board of Directors and through deep personal belief in the value of a BK education, this role shapes and executes a comprehensive philanthropy strategy that aligns with the school’s mission, strengthens community engagement, and secures transformational resources to support academic excellence and campus growth. Essential Responsibilities Executive Leadership Embed Catholic values as a cornerstone of all philanthropic strategies, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and identity. Partner with the President, Executive Team, and Board of Directors to advance institutional priorities through innovative resource development strategies. Serve as a strategic advisor and thought leader, shaping long-term financial sustainability and influencing school-wide decision-making. Major Gifts & Donor Strategy Lead the major gifts program, setting vision and driving execution for six-figure and transformational contributions. Cultivate and steward high-capacity donors, foundations, and strategic partners, building enduring relationships that accelerate mission impact. Collaborate with the President on bespoke engagement strategies, including high-touch cultivation and strategic event participation. Expand the donor pipeline through rigorous prospect research and qualification, ensuring future growth and diversification. Design and implement recognition and stewardship programs that deepen donor loyalty and inspire continued investment. Represent Bishop Kelley as a senior ambassador at select regional and national donor engagements. Fundraising Strategy & Department Oversight Architect and execute a multi-year, data-driven fundraising and marketing strategy encompassing annual giving, capital campaigns, endowment growth, and planned giving, aligned with institutional priorities. Provide visionary leadership to the Philanthropy Department, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence across events, marketing, alumni relations, and analytics. Empower the Assistant Director to optimize team performance, prioritize initiatives, and manage resources for maximum impact. Oversee departmental budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring strategic investment and measurable ROI. Safeguard brand integrity and elevate messaging across all philanthropic communications and publications. Contribute thought leadership to institutional publications, including the annual report, reinforcing the school’s mission and philanthropic vision. Qualifications Strategic Responsibilities Mission Alignment & Vision Serve as a key architect of Bishop Kelley’s advancement strategy, ensuring all philanthropic initiatives reinforce Catholic values and the school’s strategic priorities. Collaborate with the President and Board to set multi-year fundraising goals tied to institutional growth and innovation. Fundraising Leadership Design and lead integrated campaigns for annual giving, major gifts, capital projects, planned giving, and endowment expansion. Build and sustain high-impact donor relationships, with a focus on long-term engagement and legacy giving. Data-Driven Strategy Implement performance metrics, forecasting, and analytics to optimize fundraising outcomes. Leverage market trends and best practices to position Bishop Kelley as a leader in Catholic education philanthropy. Team & Culture Development Lead and mentor a high-performing advancement team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. Supervise the Assistant Director of Philanthropy and oversee Alumni Relations, Special Events, Marketing & Communications, Major Gifts, and Philanthropy Services. Brand & Community Engagement Ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all donor communications and Bishop Kelley publications. Represent the school at community events and serve as a strategic liaison to Board committees. Educational and Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, organizational leadership, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree strongly preferred for advanced strategic and leadership capability. Experience: Demonstrated success in fundraising leadership, ideally with 10+ years of progressive responsibility in major gifts, campaigns, and comprehensive advancement strategies. Leadership: Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, driving organizational alignment, and delivering measurable results in a mission-driven environment. Requirements Ability to work in a professional office environment with extended periods of sitting, computer use, and phone communication. Experience with donor management and fundraising platforms such as Raiser’s Edge, for tracking donor interactions, managing portfolios, and generating reports. Frequent standing and walking during meetings, events, and donor engagements. Occasional lifting and carrying materials (up to 20 lbs.) for events and presentations. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing, including public speaking at events.
Responsibilities
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive philanthropy strategy to ensure the financial sustainability of Bishop Kelley.
