```html DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY Location: Salina, KS 67401 Supervisor: Director of Finance Department: Administration FLSA Status: Exempt Revised: September 2021 GENERAL FUNCTION Consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Director of Philanthropy & Communications supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position is responsible for the strategic management of fundraising activities and communication efforts and is responsible for the recruitment and support of fundraising volunteers. KNOW HOW / QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and two to three years of experience in fundraising, customer service, and/or communications. * Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software. * Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community with a personal commitment to high quality customer experiences. * Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others, including membership relationships, cultivation, and stewardship. * Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations and work closely with the membership department to prioritize exceptional customer service. * Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include morning, evening, and weekend hours; role may exceed a 40-hour work week. * Must be able to pass a required background check. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PHILANTHROPY / FUNDRAISING * Direct and coordinate the annual campaign with the goal to exceed donations each year. * Develop communication and campaign strategies to successfully market the annual campaign. * Execute plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding branch annual fund prospects and members, ensuring strong membership relationships. * Maintain current and accurate files for all donors, prospects, members, and gifts; build detailed reports and document all interactions to support transparency and strategic decision-making. * Work collaboratively with the membership department to ensure customer service remains a top priority throughout all philanthropic and membership interactions. * Establish systems for timely and appropriate acknowledgements of donor gifts and member contributions. * Provide leadership alongside the Director of Finance for capital and endowment fundraising programs. * Establish and achieve monthly contact goals for self and CEO. * Provide oversight and guidance to all special fundraising events. * Recruit, onboard, and develop volunteers from diverse backgrounds; train branch volunteers in gift solicitation and stewardship best practices. * Provide administrative support for the grant process including researching, applying, receiving, assessing, tracking, and documenting all inquiries and proposals, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements. * Actively engage the board to advance the Y’s impact and develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development. * Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to develop innovative communication and public relations strategies, including traditional and digital media, with compelling messages that inspire philanthropic support and membership engagement. * Monitor achievement of fundraising and communication plans, taking appropriate action to ensure goals and objectives are met. * Produce effective donor and member communication methods such as newsletters, center announcements, special events, program/staff announcements, and feature participant stories. * Develop and manage YMCA grants and campaign calendar, serving as project manager to advance Y initiatives. GENERAL * Serve as an ambassador for the Y alongside the CEO through effective networking and skilled presentations to various community groups, identifying and executing engagement opportunities. * Serve as a liaison for community and Association events (e.g., health fairs, annual dinner) as requested. * Maintain records essential for control, evaluation, and reporting to the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and Committees. * Use discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information related to the CEO’s responsibilities. * Write clearly and concisely, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and appropriate tone for the message or audience; speak in a clear, articulate manner. * Identify and resolve problems to ensure member satisfaction and maintain a high level of knowledge on all Y programs, services, and policies. * Develop annual operating goals, objectives, plans, and budgets for the development and marketing departments. * Participate in Leadership meetings and activities as directed. * Assist with Manager on Duty assignments for evenings/weekends if needed. * Adhere to the Salina Family YMCA Code of Conduct, Emergency Procedures, Employee Handbook, and Confidentiality agreements. * Follow all YMCA policies and procedures. * Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by supervisor. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Employee must follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA. Must be able to lift a fifty (50) pound object, remain alert, move to various locations, communicate verbally including projecting the voice across distances, identify noises of distress, and handle irate, complaining, or demanding individuals without internalizing or personalizing comments. Must be able to make sound judgments and decisions even when distracted by noise or activity. CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
