POSITION: Director of Post Graduate Employment REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Career and Professional Development STATUS: Full-time Exempt RANGE: $100,000 - $115,000 Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for a Director of Post Graduate Employment to join our team. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in operating a successful educational institution. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Career Development, the Director of Post Graduate Employment will play a vital role in helping Brooklyn Law School maximize employment outcomes for its new graduates. Responsibilities include: * Ensure employment surveys are collected from graduating students * Work one on one with new and pending graduates to help them overcome obstacles to gaining post graduate employment * Maintain records on employment outcomes that meet the guidelines set forth by the ABA * Build relationships with employers that are likely to hire new graduates after graduation, including small and mid-sized law firms, compliance offices, insurance agencies and others * Other duties may include coordinating student/graduate programs and events, working with job-seeking alumni, and other duties as assigned. Required: * Juris Doctor (JD) * 7+ years working in small or mid-sized firms in Manhattan or Brooklyn or another sector that typically hires new law school graduates after graduation. * Current active membership in New York State Trial Lawyers Association or similar, or the ability to quickly become active in a bar association with deep reach into the small law firm community or a sector that typically hires law school graduates after graduation. * Desire to be part of a supportive and fun team of professionals, dedicated to helping our law students achieve their goals. * Excellent communication skills AND record keeping skills. * Patience, responsiveness, and dependability. Remote capabilities: * This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum in-office presence of four (4) days per week during the academic year when classes are in session and during exam periods. During the summer and academic breaks, when classes are not in session and exams are not being administered, a minimum of three (3) days per week of in-office presence is required. Travel: * Some travel may be required to visit employers, to attend relevant professional association meetings, and to attend relevant conferences.
