You in This Role As the Director of Procurement, you will build and lead Unusual Machines’ procurement function, owning supplier strategy, sourcing, contracts, and vendor performance across our global supplier base. This is a senior leadership role for someone who is both strategic and highly hands-on - comfortable negotiating complex agreements while also shaping scalable procurement processes. This is a newly created role with no existing roadmap. You’ll define how we select suppliers, negotiate terms, onboard vendors, and partner cross-functionally to support product launches and manufacturing scale. You’ll play a critical role in cost control, supplier quality, and long-term procurement strategy as the company continues to grow. A Day in the Life Leading all supplier and vendor relationships, domestic and international Negotiating MSAs, commercial terms, Incoterms, payment terms, and pricing Evaluating, onboarding, and auditing new suppliers, including on-site assessments Partnering with Product and Engineering during New Product Introductions (NPI) to source and onboard vendors Working closely with Manufacturing and Planning teams to align sourcing with forecasted demand Communicating forecast changes and sourcing impacts to suppliers Managing supplier performance, risk, and compliance Leading and developing a procurement-focused team Establishing procurement KPIs tied to cost, supplier performance, and contract compliance What You’ll Do Build and execute the company’s procurement strategy Own all vendor communications and supplier negotiations Establish and standardize MSAs across the supplier base Drive improvements in pricing, payment terms (including 30–45 day PO terms), and contractual protections Develop and implement supplier onboarding and evaluation processes Ensure compliance with international trade laws, tariffs, and sourcing requirements Partner cross-functionally to support product launches and production readiness Define the structure, roles, and operating model of the procurement organization Develop procurement metrics and reporting to support margin and cost objectives What You’ll Bring Required: Senior-level experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management Deep experience negotiating MSAs, Incoterms, and complex commercial agreements ERP experience (NetSuite preferred; Oracle, SAP, or similar acceptable) Proven leadership experience managing procurement or sourcing teams Experience onboarding and evaluating domestic and international suppliers Strong understanding of international trade compliance, tariffs, and supplier risk Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous, startup-style environments Preferred: Experience within the UAS/UAV ecosystem or defense-adjacent industries NetSuite experience International sourcing and supplier audit experience What You’ll Gain The opportunity to build a procurement function from the ground up Direct ownership over supplier strategy, contracts, and cost structure High visibility and partnership with executive leadership The ability to design processes, policies, and team structure from scratch A hands-on leadership role with real impact on margins and scalability You’ll collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Product, Sales, and Finance, while maintaining clear ownership of procurement.
