Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, this role will consist of strategic and operational management for the organizational requirements and is an integral part of the leadership team. You will be responsible for production, quality control and supply chain management for our Atholville and Stellarton facilities.
Your science, engineering or business education is combined with proven experience in leading the successful scale-up and on-going manufacturing of quality products within GMP standards. You inspire a growing team to achieve results that satisfy the quality, time and quantity targets by sharing a strategic perspective, developing and recognizing your people, delivering results and executing solutions. The Director of Production – East, will develop and execute strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production metrics. Duties involve directing the production team to ensure execution of the company business plan while simultaneously implementing continuous improvement initiatives that will deliver long term benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in operations management; ideally pharmaceutical GMP environment
  • Experience leading people and obtaining results through others, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of driving results in packaging, fulfillment and distribution environment
  • Self-started with good judgment and can proactively and effectively manage complex and stressful situations and resolving issues positively at all levels
  • Experience with high output, high precision packaging equipment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply budgeting processes and financial management tools
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Technology systems competency, particularly in financial, inventory, production planning and tracking applications
  • High degree of ability to think strategically and problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to lead high performing work teams
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations
  • Operations excellence and continuous improvement oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects
  • Previous Cannabis operations management experience in a licensed environment under Health Canada, an asset
  • Ability to thrive in a high-performance entrepreneurial culture
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word)
    Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
    Security Clearance: Security Clearance may be required for this position.
    Working Hours: Salaried Position: Monday through Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.
    Physical Requirements: Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labour tasks required for the proper management of the Facility Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Execution, communication and implementation of tactical initiatives required to achieve and deliver the growth strategies
  • Manage key performance indicators and provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the production departments, including resource analysis, financial, quality and safety reporting
  • Develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to deliver the growth objectives of the organization
  • Develop and manage packaging and fulfillment standard operating procedures based on the applicable regulations, policies, objectives and program-specific needs
  • Ensures the production organization accomplishes safety, quality control, schedule and cost performance
  • Monitors data collection and analysis for process mapping, developing budgets and cost analysis to determine project feasibility
  • Plan capital expenditures and measure ROI for all financial initiatives
  • Manages annual operating budgets, develops and maintains production budgets and schedules with timely accurate financial reporting
  • Lead, motivate and manage a high-performance production leadership team - train, coach, guide, direct, develop and empower direct reports
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports – appraisals, goal setting agreements as per performance management processes, succession planning, personnel development, identify training needs and measures
  • Identify new opportunities to increase quality control, reduce costs, improve output, impact business and operations goals
  • Monitor operational processes and recommend process improvements for greater cost efficiency and to increase revenue per square foot and revenue per employee
  • Drive performance improvement and product quality standards across the organization
  • Reviews and conducts root cause analysis data to troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation; Ensures the production complies SOPs, GMP, and Health and Safety requirements
  • Accountable for capacity planning and scheduling, change management reports and building and maintaining customized revenue throughput vs. utilization report/matrix.
  • Advise the executive team on key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions and establish operational best practices
  • Develop effective internal and external relationships
  • Negotiate costs with suppliers
  • Develop and conduct continuous improvement compliance audits, program evaluations and reviews to drive and sustain results; Monitor and evaluate key process indicators (KPIs)
  • Execution of production plans, resources and ensuring order fulfillment accuracy and efficiency
