Description Conducts research to determine need for development of institutional plans or projects. Advises Administration of the results and makes recommendations for projects or program development. Develops and conducts aggressive, objective-oriented advertising, publicity, and public relations programs that are supportive of institutional marketing goals, including efforts to increase census. Initiates communication methods such as publications, media releases, and other advertising tools to bring the hospital, its programs, and objectives to public attention. Coordinates with Discharge Planner and maintains contact with referring agencies and community resources. Acts as a patient advocate by providing liaison between patients and their families and the Hospital District. All Reeves Regional Health (RRH) employees are expected to perform their responsibilities in accordance with RRH policies, accrediting organizations, federal and state regulations, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable. Requirements Job Qualifications: · Education: Associate’s degree in marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field preferred. · Skills: Possesses skills in leadership, interpersonal relations, written, and oral communications, creativity, and initiative. · Experience: 2-5 years’ experience working in the Public Relations or Marketing fields preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. · Physical and Mental Requirements: Moderate periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting up to 40 pounds and some pulling and bending. · Language: Spanish-speaking preferred to support communication with a diverse employee population. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: A. Determines the marketable programs of the hospital and takes action to enhance the marketability of those programs. 1. Works with department heads and other managers to assess programs available. 2. Gains understanding of the marketable programs and works with responsible managers to improve their attractiveness to the public. 3. Recommends changes in programs to Administration. B. Determines the unfulfilled or under-fulfilled healthcare needs of the service area. 1. Conducts research through various formal and informal means to gather information on existing and needed healthcare services and programs. 2. Compiles internal input on perceived program needs in the community served. 3. Compiles information on services or programs desired by members of the community. 4. Prepares and keeps a current marketing plan for the hospital. C. Encourages and coordinates the establishment of revision of programs to be offered in the service area. 1. Keeps Administration advised of the need for new or revised programs and recommends programs to be supported. 2. Coordinates the development or revision of programs with functional Managers. 3. In coordination with functional Managers presents recommendations to Administration for consideration. 4. Informs internal staff of the hospital of new programs and solicits support and assistance. D. Conducts public relations and marketing programs in the service area for the hospital. 1. Establishes relationships with community organizations, government offices and agencies, and news media offices and stations. 2. Develops advertising campaigns and publicity programs to make the public aware of the hospital and to promote hospital programs and services. 3. Serves as an official representative of the hospital and as the primary spokesperson for new developments and services. 4. Conducts tours of the hospital and coordinates media visits and special media on-site events. 5. Creates and releases information to the media promoting hospital programs and services. E. Plans, organizes, and implements Specialty Clinic Physicians. 1. Scheduling contact for Physicians Specialty Clinic. 2. Interprets problems in Specialty Clinic as they relate to patients. F. Assist patients that require post hospitalization care and assistance. 1. Consults with Discharge Planner, patients, families, and members of the healthcare team concerning patients’ needs or related to community services. G. Provides liaison between patients and their families and the Hospital District. 1. Seeks out individuals who have problems or questions about the services provided by the Hospital District. 2. Talks with patients to identify the sources of difficulty. 3. Determines an appropriate course of action to resolve any problems. 4. Negotiates institutional red tape on behalf of patients. 5. Provides information about Hospital District services, policies, and procedures. 6. Make appropriate referrals to other departments and services with the district. 7. Provides a centralized and consistent patient grievance mechanism. 8. Pinpoints problem areas and staff attitudes which may be obstacles to delivery of care. Required Skills and Qualifications: 1. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities. 3. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills. 4. Working knowledge of HR principles and practices. 5. Effective time management with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems. 7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
