Mallory Alexander International Logistics, a global third-party logistics company (3PL) headquartered in Memphis, TN has an immediate opening for a Logistics Professional to join our team! Mallory Alexander is seeking an experienced Director/Head of Project Cargo to lead and grow our project logistics and complex cargo capabilities across our global network. This role is responsible for ensuring projects move safely, predictably, and profitably, while delivering the level of service customers expect when the cargo is critical and the margin for error is small. This is a hands-on leadership role. The Director/Head of Project Cargo sets direction and standards but also stays close to the work- supporting our teams, engaging with customers, and helping solve the tough problems that come with moving oversized, out-of-gauge, and specialized freight around the world. What You Will Be Responsible For: Build & Lead Our Project Cargo Capability Set the direction for Mallory’s global project cargo strategy, aligned with our growth priorities and customer needs Help define where we compete best—industries, lanes, and project types that fit a mid-market, service-driven forwarder Build a project cargo model that is disciplined, repeatable, and scalable, without unnecessary complexity Support Growth & Customer Confidence Partner closely with Sales, Branch Leaders, and Account Teams to win and deliver project business Support bids, RFQs, and discussions with practical, well-thought-out logistics solutions Serve as a senior point of contact for key project customers, building trust through clear communication and follow-through Ensure projects are priced responsibly, executed cleanly, and reviewed honestly Own Execution & Operational Excellence Provide oversight for end-to-end project cargo execution, including planning, routing, equipment selection, carrier and charter coordination, and final delivery Ensure compliance with international regulations and standards (IMO, IATA, customs, trade compliance) Establish clear, usable SOPs that help teams execute consistently across regions Lead post-project reviews to reinforce what worked and improve what didn’t Develop People & Teams Build, lead, and mentor a lean global project cargo team Support operations and commercial teams with guidance, training, and best practices Create clarity around roles, accountability, and expectations Lead that reflects Mallory’s values: respect, ownership, and doing the right thing Strengthen Partner Relationships Manage relationships with carriers, vessel operators, airlines, equipment providers, and subcontractors Ensure access to capacity, reliable service, and competitive commercial terms Leverage partnerships to support both execution quality and financial performance What We are Looking For: Experience Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field 10+ years of experience in freight forwarding or project logistics, with a strong focus on breakbulk, OOG, or special cargo Hands-on background with ocean and air chartering, Ro-Ro, and multimodal transport Experience supporting industries such as energy, infrastructure, construction, industrial manufacturing, or heavy equipment Skills & Approach Strong working knowledge of INCOTERMS, customs, and global trade compliance Sound commercial judgment and the ability to balance service, risk, and margin Clear communicator who builds trust with customers and internal teams Comfortable in a mid-market environment where leaders stay close to the work Proficiency with forwarding systems such as CargoWise or similar platforms Willingness to travel and engage directly with teams and customers Why Mallory Alexander?
