The Director of Project Management is responsible for strengthening FORTÉ’s national project delivery function by enhancing consistency, accountability, and profitability across a diverse and distributed team of over 120 project managers. Operating within a matrixed organization, this role will establish governance, elevate project planning standards, and develop targeted strategies to improve customers, especially on complex project types such as consultant-led engagements, large construction efforts, and multi-site phased programs. The role’s primary objective is to drive a profit-oriented mindset in project managers and build a scalable, high-performance project culture. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior or strategic leadership role. Proven experience leading large, complex programs in a technical, construction, or systems integration environment. Experience working in matrixed or multi-branch organizations with diverse project delivery models. Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business, Engineering, or related field required. Masters preferred. Deep understanding of project financials and the ability to translate budget metrics into performance behaviors. Expertise in governance, resource planning, and structured project delivery processes. Strong facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to influence without direct authority. Familiarity with industry-standard PM methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile where appropriate) and enterprise tools. Strategic thinker with a bias toward action, capable of aligning initiatives to broaden company goals. Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage at all levels of the organization.
