Job Overview: We’re seeking a talented and experienced engineering leader to head our solid rocket propulsion division. This will be a hands-on role responsible for solid rocket motor development from concept through flight qualification and into high rate production. A critical component of this leadership role is the technical mentorship and development of talented young engineers. Singularity is a fast growing stealth startup, and this role includes a significant equity opportunity. Solid rocket motor production is at a historic low point in the United States, while demand, especially for air defense munitions, is near an all time high. Singularity is focused on the development of more capable, affordable, and most importantly mass producible systems for the DoD and our allies; execution in this role will directly result in lives saved around the world. Key responsibilities: Technical: Director will be responsible for rocket motor requirement setting and design, propellant development and characterization, development of rocket motor and ground testing hardware, and transitioning rocket motor designs to mass production. Leadership: Director will be expected to own large business outcomes-responsible for solid rocket motor development schedule, mentorship and management of a team of 5, and for significant growth of this team in the coming months. The role is based in El Segundo, CA, and the director will inherit ownership of our newly constructed SRM development site in Mojave, CA. Qualifications: 8+ years of ownership experience in energetics engineering, ideally solid rocket propulsion High proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, NX) Strong ability to design for manufacture BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Strong background in solid rocket propulsion development 2+ year in a management position, providing technical mentorship and developing engineers Preferred Skills: MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Strong background in chemistry or chemical engineering Strong background in rocket and missile design and development Hands on experience in mixing, casting, and testing experimental solid rocket motors
