Description The Director of Quality is responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and continuous improvement of APM’s quality systems. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Quality & Engineering, this role ensures organizational compliance with industry standards (ISO9001, AS9100, customer-specific requirements) while driving a culture of quality excellence across all departments. The Director of Quality will lead audits, generate and present quality performance reports, represent the company in customer and regulatory quality engagements, and provide executive-level guidance to the Quality Manager and Quality teams. Requirements Duties and Responsibilities • Lead and oversee internal, external, and customer audits; ensure timely corrective actions and systemic improvements. • Develop, track, and present quality performance metrics and executive reports to senior leadership and customers. • Serve as primary customer contact for escalated quality matters, representing APM in meetings, reviews, and correspondence. • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership to align quality strategies with business objectives. • Ensure compliance with ISO9001, AS9100, and customer quality standards; maintain certification readiness. • Provide executive oversight and guidance to the Quality Manager and inspection department on priorities, resource allocation, and long-term improvements. • Drive companywide initiatives for continuous improvement, risk management, and preventive quality practices. • Lead management reviews of the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure findings are translated into actionable business improvements. Qualification Requirements • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in quality management roles within aerospace/defense or precision manufacturing. • Strong understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements, with proven audit leadership experience. • Demonstrated success presenting to executive leadership, customers, and regulatory bodies. • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills. • Knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes, and shop practices. • Proficiency with quality systems software and data analytics tools.
