SUMMARY

Establishes and oversees execution of team vision and mission. Supervises, mentors, and provides technical guidance to members of the engineering team. Reviews, approves, and drives improvement to the team’s capabilities and processes to ensure timely delivery of cost-efficient robust products and services. Coordinates with leadership to define, schedule and budget new projects. Identifies and solves performance and operational issues to improve development efficiency, time to market and continue the growth of engineers on the team.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS, STANDARDS, AND REQUIREMENTS

  • BS or MS/MEng in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of embedded design, software development, and production experience
  • Documented leadership of technical teams
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
Responsibilities

PURPOSE

Leads and supervises a team of engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.

DUTIES CRITICAL TO SUCCESS

  • Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert to the engineering team.
  • Drive development of and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the engineering team to set expectations, and ensure consistently robust designs and product releases.
  • Supervise direct reports to ensure timely and efficient execution of projects, while adhering to SOPs.
  • Work with engineering team and leadership to identify and patent new design concepts and processes. Serve as main point of contact between engineering team and patent attorneys.
  • Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs.
  • Direct, review, and approve product designs and changes.
  • Spearhead initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes.
  • Track and report project status (cost, schedule, quality) on a weekly basis to leadership.
  • Drive the establishment of relationships and interactions between various teams within the company to ensure efficient cross-functional collaboration and communication.
  • Update job knowledge by remaining current on codes and requirements (ex. FCC, CPSC); participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
