Position: Director of Recreation
Location: Irvington, New Jersey
Shift: Full Time | 8:00am – 4:00pm
Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY

Alliance Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Recreation to lead our Recreation Department. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership, and organizational skills to develop and manage engaging programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as a Recreation Director in a healthcare or senior living setting required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and care planning processes.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activity programs that meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of residents.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, professional standards, and facility policies.
  • Conduct resident and family interviews to identify activity needs and involve them in program planning.
  • Develop and maintain individualized recreation care plans and participate in assessments and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and provide consultation to staff and community partners.
  • Supervise, delegate, and support recreation staff; ensure training and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including charting progress notes and preparing reports for administration.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs, survey readiness, and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Organize special events, outings, and field trips, including transportation arrangements.
  • Stay current on best practices, industry regulations, and community resources to continually improve program offerings.
