Description JOB TITLE: Director Of Recreation JOB SUMMARY: Direct, supervise, plan, organize and control the recreational activities and traditional events at Skytop Lodge with strong proficiencies in recreation management, adventure sports to include aerial adventure parks, shooting sports to include range operations, winter sports to include ski area operations as well as related resort recreation offerings. REPORTS TO: General Manager PRIMARY DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: Develops and monitors annual budget; track expenses and revenue generated by recreational activities; tracks daily weekly, monthly, and yearly attendance figures; and oversees payroll for the individual recreation areas. Coordinates recreation programs, vendor operations, and all recreational events. Assist with the development and implementation of marketing strategy for the recreational activities which includes promotional events, marketing tools, advertisement of the facility, public and media relations, and annual marketing plans; and develops pricing strategies for new programs. Enforce safety protocols associated with rules and regulations as outlined by individual recreational activities. Schedules the maintenance and use of the facility; reviews and inspects facility, programs and operations for safety hazards and other potential problems. Responsible for all inventory control of supplies and equipment used for recreational activities. Maintain equipment in good condition for all recreation areas. Ensure recreation areas are cleaned, groomed, and serviced to provide optimum customer service experience. Observe and report any repairs needed on equipment, furniture, fixtures or building. Oversee preparation of weekly schedules and progress reports for the recreation departments. Oversee sports facilities, camp, aquatics program, adventure center programs, first responders, CPR/AED and ski patrol program. Provide training for programs as needed. Facilitate and plan recreation events for corporate groups in conjunction with the Sales Coordinators. Oversees daily operations of the facility including hiring, training, discipline and evaluation of personnel. Oversee customer service standards and facility maintenance; assists with the operations to ensure maximum customer service results. Investigates and resolves complaints or inquiries from employees and patrons concerning the operations of the facility. PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as an outdoor education instructor. First Responder Certification. RESPONSIBLE FOR: Equipment, keys, control sheets, charges and cash, guest releases, swimmer safety, ski slope safety, climbing wall safety and firearm safety. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift heavy pieces of equipment. Must be able to develop mountain biking trails, paintball fields, rock climb, kayak, canoe and swim. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Schedule includes weekends and holidays, shift work. Work places include the Adventure Center, the pool and lake areas, the ski slope during the winter, and various other public areas of the hotel. HAZARDS ENCOUNTERED: Care must be taken to lift equipment properly. (English) Proficiency in fitting and maintaining various pieces of sports equipment used throughout the Recreation Department. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Current Instructor certification in CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, First Aid, Emergency Medical Response, and Lifeguarding. Pool chemical applicator license required, Aquatic Facility Operator/ Certified Pool Operator license required. NRA Range Safety Offer license required. PA State Amusement Inspector Certification required. Ability to read and write in English is necessary. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge about adventure sports, the equipment and developing outdoor programs. Emergency medical knowledge required. PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to conduct operations in a rational manner under pressure and make decisions expediently. Must be flexible, able to adapt to changes on short notice. Genuinely enjoy working with all types of people. Must be service and safety-oriented.
