JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of accredited program in Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy preferred with license in the state of Nebraska.
  • Three years of healthcare practice experience required.
  • Three years of healthcare management experience preferred.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Maintains and promotes good health practices.
  • Will conform to TCHS procedures and policies.
  • Will perform all duties as described by the job description within the scope of licensure.
  • Maintains current professional license in accordance with state law.
  • Does not discuss patient matters such as medical treatment, diagnosis or history outside of the clinical setting in, keeping in compliance of HIPAA.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of Thayer County Health Services’ Compliance Program, including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Manual, all supporting policies for compliance and compliance plans.
  • Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by organizational policy and as requested by supervisor.
  • Consistently support the Compliance Program through personal example; the provision of day-to-day instruction and correction to employees in regard to compliance-related issues; application of appropriate discipline as required for compliance violations; and ongoing monitoring of activities and work product in areas of responsibility with respect to compliance related issues.
  • Identify departmental and/or facility improvement opportunities and actively engage staff as appropriate to promote performance improvement initiatives. Establish, modify, and monitor department specific performance improvement opportunities. When appropriate, develop action plans and report to Performance Improvement Committee.
  • Demonstrate formal greetings with patients, visitors and TCHS staff.
  • Willingly accepts new responsibilities and cooperates with implementation of change.
  • Dresses in a neat, clean uniform for patient care; maintain high personal hygiene standards.
  • Demonstrates respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence through a “We Care” philosophy with all patients, visitors, and TCHS staff.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises Physical, Occupational, Speech therapy services along with Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory Therapy.
  • Collaborates with complimentary service lines and local schools for administration of the Sports Medicine program.
  • Monitors new and upcoming regulatory changes and ensures department/organization are in compliance.
  • Maintains written policies and procedures for the department.
  • Develop departmental goals and objectives in partnership with the leadership team and in service to our patients and community
  • Develops and maintains a professional working relationship with the medical staff, department managers/directors and the senior leadership team.
  • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  • Continuously serves as a coach for employees, upholds standards, the Code of Conduct, and sets/monitors performance expectations.
  • Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statistics for administrative oversight, optimization, and goals.
  • Creates efficient, effective processes in all aspects of rehab actions and responsibilities. Works to optimize all service lines to enhance patient care and service excellence. Looks for ways to expand and enhance existing service lines.
  • Supervises the planning, administration, coordination and evaluation of patient treatment programs in coordination with medical staff.
  • Oversees recommendations and changes to the plan of care and orders.
  • Responsible for ensuring the appropriate evaluation of patient needs and communication with patients, family, other departments and medical staff for the department in all modalities.
  • Audits and supervise appropriate documentation and patient progress.
  • Ensures accurate, appropriate and optimal billing and charge capture for treatment rendered according to established standards, protocols and evidence-based rehabilitation practices.
  • Manages rehab services in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements and within the established budget.
  • Performs cost analysis on equipment, leases, and rental agreements.
  • Reviews rates and procedural codes and makes recommendations for adjustments.
  • Seeks to develop new service lines to provide comprehensive, current rehab treatments.
  • Maintains patients’ records, charts, and discharge summaries.
  • Assist other therapists in planning treatment programs while overseeing outcomes and mentoring others.
  • Ensure the department is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working condition.
  • Participates in volunteer activities that promote community, hospital and individual growth.
  • Develops monthly work schedule for department.
  • Develop and maintain an environment of safety.
  • Optimizes departmental financial operations by validating daily revenue (if applicable), analyzing monthly revenue and expenses and reporting budget variances, and engaging in developing and adhering to the budget.
  • Recruits, interviews, and select qualified candidates while following established hiring practices and guidelines.
  • Orients new employees and provides training to department staff in an appropriate and thorough manner.
  • Ensures that the confidentiality of patients’ medical records, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.
  • Participates in TCHS committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.
  • Creates an environment of transparency, respect, and open communication within own department and other departments.
  • Participates in professional development activities, including TCHS Leader Development Institute and maintains professional affiliations as applicable.
  • Reviews and approves timecards as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.
