POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Rehabilitation (PT) provides leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that their areas of responsibility have the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures. The Director of Rehabilitation is also responsible for developing systems to effectively grow therapy services at a facility and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The primary purpose of the position is the management and administration of all aspects of rehabilitation services for the patients/residents. This position manages all therapists and associated staff and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees.
Note: All employees of Cascadia Healthcare are required to submit and be cleared to work in the facility per each
state’s specific background check requirements prior to contact with patients/residents.
QualificationsEducation:
§ Bachelors, Master’s Degree and/or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy, or an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Licenses/Certification: § Current physical therapy license in the state of employment; or,
§ Current PTA certificate in state of employment.
§ MDS certification (RAC-CT) or other advanced certification preferred.
§ Current CPR Certification.
§ Valid driver’s license.
Experience:
§ Minimum of three years of rehabilitation experience required.
§ Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

§ Provides leadership to and directly manages clinical therapy staff, facilitating a team atmosphere among staff.
§ Promotes positive employee relations by facilitating an atmosphere of open communication and problem solving.
§ Conducts performance appraisals of all therapy personnel.
§ Ensures personnel compliance standards including required credentials, corrective actions, and improvement plans, when needed.
§ Investigates, follows up and assists in the resolution of staff, service and resident/patient-related issues.
§ Ensures that all program standards are met.
§ Develops strategies to increase facility’s therapy program/revenue.
§ Leads efforts to build caseloads within the facility, including the investigation of those in facility who could be candidates for therapy through follow-up with nursing staff and physicians. Ensures that the therapy department is aware and accepting all residents/patients that are appropriate for therapy.
§ Develops special programs for resident participation, such as fitness, dementia programming, and various protocols for activities that strengthen and enhance the existing therapy program.
§ Leads marketing efforts with local hospitals, physicians and community on behalf of facility to increase awareness of the therapy program.
§ Ensures that clinical staff are providing proper documentation according to Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, private payor guidelines, company policy and facility standards.
§ Oversees the scheduling of residents/patients and therapists, ensuring adequate coverage.
§ Tracks Assessment Period Data to include number of disciplines treating, treatment days/weeks and daily treatment time. Communicate data to appropriate facility personnel.
§ Participates in clinical meetings with review of PPS date. Coordinates ARO’s to capture the burden of care.
§ Participates in discharge planning.
§ Reviews the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and individual therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using pre-determined criteria.
§ Provides in-service education to the resident/patient care team and education to the community.
§ Provides treatment in accordance with established standards of practice, company standards, department procedures and standards according to company guidelines.
§ Participates in triple check to validate claim accuracy for billing.
§ Maintains a current knowledge of law and regulations regarding rehabilitative services and ensures that all employment actions are in compliance with applicable regulations.
§ Ensures a safe environment and utilizes tools and equipment in a safe manner complying with all infection control, universal precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
