Description St. Mary’s is seeking a prayerful and spirit led individual who desires to seek the Lord’s will for our parish and our youth. The ideal candidate for this position would be an organized and dynamic leader who is ready to coordinate our catechetical and faith formation programs. The DRE will play a vital role in nurturing the spiritual growth of children, youth, and adults, ensuring that all formation efforts are rooted in the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church. This position would be ideal for someone who thrives in a non-traditional office setting and enjoys being on the move. Ministerial Character The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at St Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church. Key Responsibilities · As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life. • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church. • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed. Foster strong relationships with parents, youth, and parishioners, encouraging participation in parish life outside of just completing the sacraments. · Develop, implement, and evaluate religious education programs for children (K-12), youth and adults. · Oversee sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation in collaboration with the pastor, catechists, and families. · Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists and program leaders. · Plan, coordinate, and attend the annual Confirmation retreats. · Plan and coordinate youth events, including high school DCYC trip and Diocesan middle school rally. · Ensure all catechetical instruction aligns with diocesan guidelines and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. · Create and monitor program budgets, materials, and registration processes. · Collaborate with parish staff on liturgical, community, and family faith initiatives. · Maintain compliance with diocesan safe environment and child protection policies. · Act as lead and be present for both middle school and high school faith formation groups weekly. · Act as point person for parents and teachers and be present for weekly K-5th grade CCD classes. · Communicate with participants, parents, and the parish at large to keep them informed of religious education efforts. · Communicate professionally and clearly with parents on upcoming events for youth participation. · Plan and run Vacation Bible School each summer. · Provide handouts, forms, and information to families, teachers, and ministry leaders (also in Spanish as needed). · Pursue professional development and personal faith formation. · Other duties as assigned by the Pastor. Requirements Minimum Qualifications · Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. · Ability to inspire faith formation in children, youth, and adults. · Good managerial experience of employees and volunteers. · Must be able to prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques. · Must be highly motivated, energetic, and able to give and receive honest feedback and opinions to collaborate in a team environment with the parish staff and parish ministries. Catholic Requirement · Practicing Catholic in good standing who fully embraces the teachings of the Catholic Church. Education and Training · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in theology or equivalent from an accredited University preferred. · Or 5+ years of faith formation ministry experience. · Or certifications in Religious Education, Youth Ministry, or diocesan catechetical programs. Experience · Preferred minimum 3 years of parish religious education experience or similar teaching experience. · Proficiency in technology and parish management software and social media platforms. · Ability to communicate the faith effectively in large group and one-on-one settings. · Experience working as a part of a team in both leader and member positions. Language · Bilingual (English and Spanish is preferred). Licenses and certifications · Valid Texas driver’s license. · Must be certified in Diocese of Austin EIM within 90 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment period. · Will have completed or will work towards completing the Formation Leader Track, OCIA/Catechumenal Ministry Track, and Catechist’s Track through Franciscan at Home. Working Conditions · All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church. · The Parish is an at-will employer. · All buildings owned by the Parish are tobacco free. · Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. · Working on weekends and evenings, and some holidays may be required. · Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations. · Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. · May be required to use personal vehicle to drive to off-site locations. · May be required to travel within and outside the parish to meetings and other events. · This job requires regular movement between classrooms and other church facilities and the ability to move, carry, and transport items weighing up to 24 lbs. Hours & Compensation · This job will be a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. Weekly schedule flexibility is available depending on weekly events. Some evening and weekends work will be expected. · Compensation commensurate with education and experience. · Benefits include health insurance and paid time off.
