Job Title: Director of Research Location: Georgia School of Orthodontics – Atlanta, GA Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary: Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Research to lead our growing orthodontic research program. This is a pivotal leadership role for an individual passionate about academic excellence, innovation, and mentorship in orthodontics. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in research and education, with the vision to shape a nationally and internationally recognized research agenda. At GSO, we are committed to conducting well-designed clinical research that positions us as a pioneer in orthodontic innovation. With strong institutional support, including robust research funding, infrastructure, and dedicated personnel, we aim to become a preeminent leader in orthodontic research over the next five years. Key Responsibilities: * Provide strategic leadership and vision for GSO’s orthodontic research program. * Mentor residents and faculty in research methodology, design, data analysis, and scientific writing. * Oversee resident and faculty research projects, ensuring compliance with IRB and institutional policies. * Facilitate and support publication and presentation of research at national and international conferences. * Collaborate with statisticians and support staff to execute clinical and translational research projects effectively. * Track and report research metrics to meet accreditation and institutional standards. * Promote a culture of scholarly inquiry and critical thinking across all levels of the academic program. Research Focus Areas & Opportunities: GSO provides substantial funding and support for high-impact research, with a focus on: * Accelerated orthodontic techniques * Three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) * Clear aligner therapy and technologies Graduate residents work closely with primary investigators, gaining valuable hands-on research experience while developing critical thinking, academic writing, and public speaking skills. Residents are encouraged and supported to present their findings at major conferences, including the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) annual meetings. Facilities – Lazzara Orthodontic Center for Research: The Lazzara Orthodontic Center for Research is a 7,167 sq. ft. state-of-the-art research facility that serves as the academic hub of innovation at GSO. This cutting-edge space features: * Seven private research offices * A dual-functioning classroom accommodating up to 90 residents or two simultaneous sessions of 45 * Floor-to-ceiling windows for natural light * A professional-grade presentation stage with 90-inch TVs, additional monitors, ceiling microphones, and wood-toned sound paneling The center is designed to foster academic excellence, enhance resident learning, and position GSO at the forefront of orthodontic research and publication. Qualifications: * PhD or Master’s degree in Orthodontics * Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in academic research, including didactic and clinical orthodontics * Proven record of scholarly activity and publication * Experience mentoring graduate residents or junior faculty preferred * Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills Why Join GSO?
