Description

This is a live-in (optional) position that manages the Office of Residence Life. This includes the day-to-day community development, services and programs of designated residential buildings for Undergraduate and/or Graduate residents. Supervises Professional and Student Staff and manages programming for the assigned buildings, and overall general Residence Life programming in collaboration with staff. Serves as the on-call person providing crisis support to staff who are reporting to duty phone calls from residents. Enforces Residence Life policies. Providing event support to large-scale division-wide programming as needed. Responsible for on-call support by duty staff assigned to after-hours/weekend/holiday on-call duties to address campus emergencies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree (MA) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Students Affairs or Higher Education.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-call support to staff who are managing crisis intervention/assessments for students in need during the rotational basis covering up to 1600 residential students. Follow up with students to ensure holistic wellness; academic, physical, and mental. Serve as the professional staff on-call for Title IX incidents, while working with Campus Security and the Title IX Coordinator. Make referrals to various offices including Academic Affairs, Counseling, Health Services, Public Safety, Accessibility Services, International Students & Scholar Services, and the Deans’ offices, etc., as necessary. Respond to residents and parents regarding Complex administrative and facility concerns. Be in close communication with staff about facilities management. Participate in meetings to recommend best practices for resolving sensitive or highly charged student concerns including serving on the ARC (Academic Retention Committee) and BIT (Behavioral Intervention Team) committees.
  • Work in close collaboration with Student Services and Facilities for residential building needs. Provide support to Coordinators who are supervisors of student staff, managing facilities-related issues, along with Facilities, and support to residents for issues and challenges. May include supporting students through roommate issues and policy issues.
  • Promote the holistic development of students through, facilitation of community development in residence halls, developing student leadership through training, designing, executing and assessing social and educational programs that foster student growth and teach life skills, supervision and management of living-learning communities and theme houses, advising student groups, assisting in the first year and transfer student transitions to Drew.
  • Coordinate the hiring process including advertising positions, interviewing candidates, offering positions, and managing paperwork through financial aid. Manage training for all residence life staff professional and student staff.
  • Manage all opening and closing of residence halls, administration and management of room keys, room changes, work orders, and follow-up with maintenance and facility issues in collaboration with Student Services. Create and distribute room condition reports to ensure cleanliness and readiness of residence hall rooms. Advertise and engage with summer storage program for residential students.
  • Manage a budget for social and educational programming inside and outside of the halls, student staff development, theme houses, and assigned clubs and organizations. Allocate funds to ensure appropriate fiscal decisions are made. Order and purchase programming supplies for events. Provide assessment of community development activities and make appropriate recommendations to enhance services inside and outside of residence halls.
  • Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff or makes recommendations that are usually accepted. Plans organizational structure and job content.
