CORE COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Human Services or a related field preferred (relevant experience may substitute).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years in a supervisory role within residential or developmental disability services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Connecticut DDS Policies and Procedures preferred.
  • DDS Medication Administration, CPR, and PMT certifications required.
  • Familiarity with Key Performance Indicators and program evaluation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage compliance, documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Experience with hiring, performance management, and team leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and general administrative tools.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Allied Community Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Residential Services for their subsidiary Allied Community Prograrms to lead and manage our residential programs, including Community Living Arrangements (CLAs), In-Home Support, Personal Support, and Medical Coordination services for adults with developmental disabilities. This leadership role is responsible for the daily operations, regulatory compliance, staffing oversight, and program quality across multiple locations, with a focus on delivering person-centered services that promote independence, dignity, and community inclusion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee operations of residential services, including CLAs, In-Home Support, and Medical Coordination.
  • Serve as a 24/7 on-call resource for emergencies and program support.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with direct care shifts across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts as needed, including for medical appointments, ED visits, and hospital stays.
  • Collaborate with behaviorists to prepare documentation for DDS Program Review Committee (PRC) and Human Rights Committee (HRC).
  • Partner with agency nurses to complete all medical appointments and ensure timely submission of nursing reports.
  • Lead efforts to maintain readiness for DDS Quality Service Reviews and Licensing inspections.
  • Monitor individual and program needs, including staff performance and home conditions.
  • Complete all required documentation including Individual Plans, 6-month reviews, and emergency drills in accordance with CT state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Allied Community Programs policies and DDS guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Interdisciplinary Team, Day Services, and Employment teams to ensure individualized, coordinated care for each participant.
  • Maintain active communication with families, guardians, medical professionals, DDS, DSS, and other external partners.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, recommend terminations in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Manage budgets, audits, and financial performance across programs.
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing levels to ensure program coverage and compliance.
  • Lead internal staff meetings, strategic planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Foster staff development through ongoing training and professional growth plans.
  • Develop and maintain a strong, cost-effective workforce with high retention.
  • Provide direct program supervision in the absence of supervisors as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
